good news. Detrimentalist was weird to me...feels funny to say that about a VS album. Looking forward to hearing this.

Really? how so? It was the first album I connected with...I think it's generally a bit more accessible and has catchy persistent melodies.

This record feels really trippy so far, very trippy.

I've only discovered them lately but I have become a big fan over the last year. For me, the more noise the better but my favorite that I've heard has to be 'Rossz Csillag Alatt Született'. It's straight forward in comparison to some other albums, but it has my full attention from start to finish. I haven't heard Detrimentalist, but I'm stealing that and Filth at the moment.

Exactly...I bought it without hearing anything from it because I was out on the road and it just wasn't what I was expecting. It took a while, but I dig it now.

in the meantime, check this song out by VS called "mutant cunt sniffer". It isn't on any of his releases but still awesome nonetheless...

Finished listening to the album. It's OK, decent album. Was expecting something better :[

Detrimentalist was awesome, but I'll wait to hear some reviews before I buy this. VS has too many good records to spend money on a bad one.

It's a middle of the road release for the man, but it ain't bad.

Coincidentally, it reminds me a lot of the track I posted...more heavy, complex and layered, as opposed to some of the early stuff...it must take him forever to program a song...I'd have to listen to it a few more times because there's so much going on to appreaciate it in one sitting...

Also lol and wtf @ splooj guzzlers "hey baby, i wanna give u head [....] and after you cum, i wanna drink all of it out of your condom"

True, the album kinda underwhelmed on first listen. It's really different in vibe to his other stuff, but I can tell that theres a lot in there that requries some serious immersion time to get.

completely wildly off-topic yet sort of on in a vague sort of way, Dillinja's playing my home city in a week or two which is interesting for me at least.

Then again, I've paid pretty much no attention to 99% of dnb since getting into DM though so I may just get bored.

I still remember someone recommending me Venetian Snares when I was first getting into dnb like a decade ago but I don't think I ever got around to checking him out.

I love that CD. I don't know much about this guy, or this style of music really, but that CD just dominates.

I don't think you should start listening to VS thinking it's gonna sound like DnB.Head will asplode.

About the album, it reminds me of a less aggressive "Higgins Ultra Low (...)".Probably why some people are disappointed, since most started listening to him with Rossz, Cavalcade or Pink + Green.I like it, but I found the drum machine to be boring quite some times.

You should check out the album 'Mutant Sniper Invasion From Xxx Dimension'. Mutant Cunt Sniffer is the opening track and is a great album

...One thing I'd like to hear more of is his Dub Sabbath album. I've found a few tracks on yotube and they were pretty good.

Well I'm more into the Squarepusher/Aphex Twin side of things mostly these days, so eccentricity wouldn't be lost on me at all.

I'd say it's even more eccentric, but then again I still have lots of homeworks to do with Squarepusher.Mind recommending?

my personal favourite's 'Just A Souvenir' which is a little more experimentalist but I'd say you could just as easily start with either 'Hello Everything' or 'Feed Me Weird Things'.

He's a bit hard to just nail down to say like "this is his drum n bass album", "this is his jazz album" etc, so you may find that you like the complete opposite end of his output to me and get completely different things out of it.
That's kind of the enjoyable thing about it really.

Holy shit, I was initially a bit put off by this, but trust me...it's a phenomenal grower.
Has perhaps the darkest sound from him yet, and very trippy.

No way, not even close to be as dark as Doll Doll Doll or Find Candace. But yeah I see where you're coming from.I like that he keeps the same little pews and bleeps theme all throughout the album.Chainsaw Fellatio and Pussy Skull are awesome.

To be honest, I haven't spun those releases nearly enough to comment - but either way I think he's definitely gone a more melodic route with this release, as in less glitchiness. Makes it more moody IMO compared to his more spazzy albums. So good and fresh regardless.

Needs moar discussion.
Those who didn't give this a chance, give it one.
The mood he's going for just hit me like a ton of bricks and I'm digging this to an incredible extent - amazing spaced out chill album from him, diversity+quality+consistency across everything he's done. Ace.

I wouldn't say that. It's a very dark, seedy album. Deep Dicking, Crashing the Yogurt Truck, Mongoloid Alien, Kakarookee Hates Me, and Splooj Guzzlers are all awesome, Pussy Skull is OK, the rest are forgettable. Shoud have been the Filth EP.

Still, it gets too much hate.
