So Im getting my hair cut very soon, probably in a couple of days or in January, but soon enough. I've had long hair since I've had enough age to have it, but in my shitty country an Engineer or teacher with long hair never gets hired, and Im in my 9th semester of Industrial Engineering and will begin internship (pasantias in spanish, not only doctors do it here) in January.

I know it is a good opportunity but I don't there isn't any place better. I was told Spain has the same kind of Engineer crisis, young people are lazy there and study shitty careers. And well Canada is hiring lots of young recently-graduated professionals right now, A colombian friend of mine is moving there next year, he has long hair and never had to cut it. Fuck this place

Yes obviously in places like Cali and the New England area 100k doesnt go as far as it does in much of the Southeast.....hence why I like where i live (North Alabama) engineering graduates start at around 50k straight outta school and there are plenty of engineering jobs to be had. Many people are ignorant and think that all southerners live in trailers. In my town (Huntsville) there is the Redstone Arsenal as well as NASA space flight center, and countless other tech firms (Boeing, Lockheed, Raytheon, etc) and there is a shitload of wealth, but the overall cost of living is still very low on the national scale.

I've had long hair for 15 years, 12 of which have been in business casual work environments in 5 different companies. I have found getting professional jobs with long hair can be more challenging, but not impossible at all. I don't plan to ever cut my hair for my career.

As for hair cut suggestions, I'd say go to a hair stylist and ask them. Don't try to get advice on a death metal forum.

And I wouldn't come to the US looking for success. Unemployment is on the rise, wages are dropping, companies are cutting back, the dollar's purchasing power is dropping, banks here aren't loaning out money, inflation is about to skyrocket, etc.

I'm sorry, I'm not a materialistic person by any means. My post wasn't a representation of how I feel about it at all. I was just trying to say that it isn't the best thing to do, since you know...this guy seems pretty young. If you stay, stay because you want to...not for another person, especially a girl...no matter who they are because relationships don't last forever, and god forbid if she leaves you what are you left with? But that's just me, and my opinion. There are plenty of fish in the sea and I wouldn't sacrifice my future because I may be tied down with some one. Actually, I faced this similiar situation prior to me joining and doing our last tour and once again last year when I contemplated going to college and the Marines, which I still am considering doing. I'd still do it, and I love my girlfriend very much and I value my relationship with her but if something comes along that may make life easier for us with a career later on down the line so that I could take care of her and possibly the children I may bring up, especially if it's someone I want to lay my life down with, then I'm going to do it and hope that we can keep it together for when I come back. I'm not one for long distance relationships, but I think staying and holding yourself back for someone else and not doing what you feel will help become more successful is the biggest mistake one can make. It'll be hard, but the final result is something that is worth taking the risk.

I think Forbidden who posts here kind of has to go through the same situation or something like it.
