one question, why is it on the dvd the the song last mistake is missing?
did the band not play this song on tour (if so why not)?
did you play the song and not film it?
did you film it and were unhappy with the performance?
any sort of answer from a berzerker member would be very much appreciated, because i really love that song, and am very upset that it is not on the dvd (although i am very greatful that the dvd is coming out even without the song).
thankyou

I'm going to piss everyone off...
Does the concept of a Satan still exist? I mean c'mon, what could oppose God's Will? ....NOTHING! Ah-ha ha ha! Satan is a personification of human emotion.
There is no good or evil, if there be it is entirely subjective to the individual within that society. I know that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration and that we are all one conciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves! Guess what... Einstein PROVED that. Death doesn't exist cos everything is matter, all matter is energy. Energy does not dieits all in the mind, instead, energy builds itself into life like you and me.

Hey, is there any chance The Berzerker will tour with Vader again?
I read that they will be doing a US tour around October or November on their site, and seeing as you guys said you liked the last tour ;) maybe it could happen again?
I missed both Berzerker tours, with Vader and the headlining one, and am still kicking myself for it, hopefully a Vader/Berzerker tour can happen again so I can see 2 of the greatest bands in Metal play live :D

If the DVD has live tracks on it, are you guys going to make a live cd soon? I saw you guys in... must've been 2002 at the Underground in London, Uk and it was insane. The tracks on the first albums is fine, but it doesn't accurately portay the immense energy of the Bezerker. Its an energy which is... inhuman. Isn't that what the Bezerker is all about? Being separate from your real life personalities? C'mon guys, bring out those live cds, I know your live shows are brutal, capture that sound and sell the pure energy that is The Bezerker.

Your dream may be to awaken into a world where people will consider others before themselves, but we can change this. America invests Trillions of dollars into developing weapons each year and that money could be spent to feed the globe. What I want to ask is this: Is it not both natural and logical to lookout for your own welfare rather than others? Your dream can be easily misinterperated, do you mean people should act less selfish or the extreme, be very compassionate?
Also, is the album Dissimulate going to be re-released with extra tracks? If so when and if not, why not?

In the liner notes of Dissimulate, someone named Sloth is thanked. Is this Sloth, the drummer from Sadistik Exekution? If so, how was he involved in the production of the album?
Are there lyrics to "Abandonment" and "Ignorance"?

Corporal Jigsore Quandary as the Lryics are so cool they seem abit like some of the poems that I write and where did you guys get the samples that you use on most of the Dissimulate Albums as I would love to use some of them on the Mixes I make for my own use!
As im in Australia and have been unable to get the dvd as of yet, i was wondering about a few things from the recordings(im an engineer).
Firstly, how did you get your drum sound, i heard you use a 909, im guessing you then run this through some kind of pedal or distortion unit for the sound, if so, what and how did you do this.
Also a similair question as to how you distorted the vocals, I saw the pics on the site from the recording of the first album what looks like a DOD death metal pedal in the signal chain at the mixer, is this what you ran the vocals through, as i have tried this myself but cannot get the clarity needed.
Im sure the response will probably be either "watch the dvd" or "thats my fucking secret" but im generally interested to know.
Thankyou, Nasag

I used a chinese herbal supplement called Dong Qai when recording guitar for the first album. It's used to reduce the incidence of cramping - usually for women on their period, but recommended to me by guys who ride motorcross as their forearms tend to cramp up riding.
Drummer and Guitarist used a lotion called Tiger Balm. You rub it into the skin and it stops your muscles going sore after shows.
No tendonitis problems...so far.

Correct me if i am wrong, but when I saw the Berzeker last, their bassist played with a pick. I know from experience that I can easily reach 32 notes at 240 by picking with 4 fingers. I would think it would put less of a strain on the bass player if he didn't play with a pick.

I play with a pick for a few reasons. I play guitar a lot more than bass and am used to playing with a pick...the finger picking thing has never come easily to me, and respect to people who can do it.
But I find that with finger picking, you lose a lot of attack and there is a large difference in volume between notes when you finger pick. Also it is a style that works best with a clean bass tone, and the berzerker bass sound is always distorted.
Besides, a lot of the dissimulate material is played up around 300bpm. Even with 4 fingers, I think you'd find finger picking that a bit of a stretch.

hm
when playing "corporal....."
do you play it on the 2nd fret(B..obviously) as opposed to open A?
if so....how the fuck does the guitarist do the 2nd fuckin' solo cos i can't figure out how to play it without cutting my fingers for some reason....
berzerkerguitar
04-27-2004, 01:44 AM
we played that song in B as per carcass, just in 2nd position though. The solos are also just moved up in position, i dont have a trem bar as Michael ammot used in the 2nd solo so its varied a bit. Im struggling to figure out how you could cut your fingers though.

Hey Berzerker's, you rock :D
Here in Germany it is not to easy to get you plates.
But i have it ;)
Can i Order the DVD over the internet to Germany?
Sorry for my baaaad englisch
you can order the DVD from the Earache Euro webstore - they should ship to Germany ;)
on a random note... watching the studio footage with The Drummer... man, i know the drums were fast, but that fucking blew me away! the guy can't be human!
anyway... i remember one of the things i think one of them said about their worst gig being when they were on the Nile/ SYL/ Napalm Death tour and The Drummer had broke his foot....
on an almost connected vibe.... I know there's virtually no band out there doing what The Berzerker is doing in terms of sound, but in terms of 'classificiation' (ie "industrial death metal") what do you guys think of the other bands round that are trying to take extreme music to the next level, such as Red Harvest, Strapping Young Lad, Void etc?
Grommell
04-27-2004, 01:06 PM
This ones for The guitarist.
What speed do you normally set your metronome at when doing a chromatic scale? I can get upto around 150-160bpm which isnt that fast comparitivly (The fastest I've ever seen done is 210 - which is pretty blurry).
Secondly, What sort of guitar exercises do you do to develope and maintain your speed and finger dextierity?
Lastly, Whats the best peice of guitar advice you can offer to an aspiring heavy metal guitarist?
Thanks for any response man - and thanks for the opportunity to probe your brain with these q's. You guys are a band like no other and this kind of fan interaction and appreciation proves that. Cheers blokes, Keep it brutal.

either use a better mic or system....or dont push the voice out so hard. in other words dont strain to be loud or deep over night. it takes time. also you just have to find the right way to form the inside of youre throat. with most ppl its different.
Nyarlathotep
04-28-2004, 11:17 AM
Uh, then your vocalist needs to warm up. Honestly, vocals shouldn't hurt your throat if you have good technique, and are warmed up. Don't end up being like corpse grinder, who must have like a billion cysts in his throat.

Hey whats with corpse grinder????? didnt catch that.
Question for luke....
Now to be honest, I havent read much about you guys (history wise) but as I read more and more in the forums It seems you were once/or still are (im not sure) a Gabber Dj....
If I may ask, what artists in particular did you spin?
Speedcore - Dj Tron, Delta 9 ?
Artcore - Dj Nosferatu, Ruffneck ?
Darkcore - Armaggedon Project, Art of Fighters ?
Harcore - Omar Santana, Da Predator ?
Doomcore - Marc Acardipane, PCP ?
any stuff like that?

hey coma look for a post by berzerker fan telling you about his site the look at the history bit on there itll probably tell you everything you need to know!!!! oh yeah he did some remixes for earache bands and he does alot of his own stuff, i have a couple of demos!!!!!
read the lyrics in the inlay sleeve booklet to find out what Luke says at the beginning of February... "It's 1983..." or something like that.
simple really.

dave salmon

It is febuary 1998,
with too many mindless bodies,
walking the face of the planet,
and too many mindfull bodies,
without enough motivation,
to do anything constructive with their lives,
i despise these people,
in a way i can not verbally express,
my hatred for humanity
has reached an all time high,
i believe i am a higher power
and a greater being,
than our all too common society,
Lately i have asked myself
should i concede defeat
and conform to our commercialist society,
surely it would make my life
on this world easier to bear,
but when i get near my lowest moments,
i remember...
Why, i hate the world,
and everything, that is inside,
i remember why, that i despise
everything that is not i.

Corpsegrinder doesn't warm up before doing his vocals. This is extremely bad for your throat. If you don't warm up, it creats cysts in your throat.

Yeah. Use a pick instead.
For the vocalist whose voice hurts, practice, and try not to smoke or drink cold/fizzy drinks before doing vox. And louder does not necessarily equal better.

i coughed up blood from smoking too much at practice once, my spine/lower back used to shake violently, and they both fucked up all the breathing exercises i had been doing.
but yeah, honey helps for some reason...though it depends on where your voice is coming from(if you get me), i have to do shit from the bottom of my lungs, to the top of my throat.
Smoking doesn't help either, diet coke helps the throat stuff, where as honey does actually help the lower vocals..
But everyone is different with their techniques, he should do whatever he feels comfortable with

One Question, Do you make a Tour in Germany soon?
Sorry for my bad englisch :D
dave salmon
04-30-2004, 01:32 PM
hey cuntingleper, well the labrat guy did make a joke at the 1st manchester (dissimulate) gig. he said that (just before the berzerker came on), steve erwin is the lead vocals for berzerker. don't know if he did it at any other gigs but he did at that one. it was pretty funny actually, lol!
dave salmon
04-30-2004, 01:36 PM
did any one go to the feb decapitated gig?. if you didn't then it was pretty funny! just before decapitated came on, while they were setting up, one of the roadys plugged the laptop with the samples on in to the pa. when he turned it on the windows welcome sound came on full blast through the speakers. it was even funnier when half the crowed cheared more for that than they did for some of the bands.
dave salmon
04-30-2004, 01:45 PM
this may be jumping a bit ahead of the gun with you guys just releasing the DVD and having finished a tour not too long ago. but have you got any plans to tour again, you'll sell out most if not all the venues you play at. if you have then please could you pass through manchester again, and could i suggest going to either the academy or the beer keller. the road house gig was insane with the ceeling being pulled in around the crowed by the nutter who thought some one was trying to help him do it but it was the security guard trying to stop him. the same guy was punching the ceeling tiles through and twated one of the sprinklers, lol!

What are the repercussions ( if any) when an audience member gets hurt because of one of the band members...mainly the Bassist punching that bloke in the head in the first part of disregard on the DVD.
im curious, what was he saying, doing, whatever to provoke such a response from you Berzerker Bass?
they played, i think, Ride The Lightning (the track) at least 3 or 4 times in a row in between Thus Defiled and Rotting Christ from what i remember.
The Berzerker in a small venue is always liable to be a powderbox/tinderkeg (insert other analogy here).... bring it on!!! :D

I'm wondering about the band's opinion on P2P filesharing. I don't want to start a debate/flame war here, but I speak for myself when I say that without it I probably wouldn't have discovered the band. I remember seeing the video for "No One Wins" on rage one night while Andrew Haug from triplej was guest programming, and I downloaded it the next day. I then purchased both albums.
Anyway, I can see both sides of the argument for/against it and I'm somewhere in the middle, but what is your opinions?
I'd just like to add that I've never downloaded anything that I haven't paid for later. =P

Ok, I looked at that again, and I think he said something like "punch me here" and pointing to his nose.
But what the fiction was that about?
berzerker bass
05-11-2004, 09:30 PM
OK.
That guy is a crazy fan of ours called jamie hunter. He worded me up before the gig that he wanted us to smash him in the face during the show, which was at nottingham 2003. He was pretty insistent with the request during the gig, so I ended up doing the honors. Who am I to deny a fan?
On a serious note, definitely not one to try at home. If you smack someone on tour or hurt them and they take offence to it (or if their partner, friends, teacher or parents take offence for that matter) you can be arrested or up for legal action, and either can cut short your tour or put your returning to that country in doubt.

This question goes for The Berzerker (vocalist):
I´m a big fan of noisecore/speedcore and of your early works as a Dj, your self titled album i must say is one of the most extreme stuff i´ve ever eard, i totally love it & it kicks major ass!your death metal/speedcore/noize mixing is just fantastic, i remembered to think that your muzic was just brutal and inhumanly awesome!
It was with very curiosity & anxiety that i waited for the next release, hoping to be more/as brutal as the self titled album.
In "Dissimulate" i ear you guys using more death metal and less speed/noisecore, in my opinion this was the mixture that made you guys be on the top of the most brutal/inhuman bands out there.Don´t get me wrong, i still liked "Dissimulate" but just like me i know that there are more speed/noise fans out there and we don´t wanna see this side of your music fade away.
Please, don´t get me wrong, i am and always will be your fan!
Tks for your time

let me explain the circumstances
the beggining his words are
"doped up on drugs beliveing themselves invunarable them marched into a massacre"
right now if u play it in reverse
iit says "sell drugs" YEH ROCK AND ROLL
now i figured this out because if u look at the construction of the words spoken
(forward)= "doped up on DRUGS beliveing themSELVES invunarable them marched into a massacre"
so if u take out the too capitall words and say them back wards u
hear
SELVES DRUGS
now when u distort it aand its in reverse u get
SELLS DRUGS
its amazing any one else seen it>?>?

When I saw you guys on The Art of Noise tour the singer filled in for the drummer cause of the broken foot thing, and he pulled off everything just as well. All you guys are fucking amazing.
I guess my question is, any tips for blasting and such? Do you guys let your wrist, or fingers do the stick work? In the Reality rehearsal bit, he had this weird grip goin on, can you explain it a bit? Or how about the specs for your gear?
Thanks a bunch. Keep fuckin slaying.

This is for the bassist.
What strings do you use?
Do you use a pick or your fingers?
Also, do you use standard tuning? (If not, what tuning do you use?)
Thanks! :D

He uses pics, they did have a bassist that used fingers though.
And no way in hell thats in standard tuning, its in A (the guitar is so i guess teh bass is too)

Correct.
Pick, and A tuning on a 5 string bass. I have no preferred brand of strings, and when I need them tend to shop around for the heaviest fattest set I can find.
As for vocals - who does what, and how do we do them - dig around these threads a bit, and you should be able to find some answers.

Does/did the drummer for Berzerker hold any drumming speed records? I heard he held the record for the fastest 1 handed single stroke hits but i'm not sure if its true. Also what is his average bpm?

a few questions-
what pickups did you guys use exactly? on the DVD it says seymour duncan but theres about 5 million different models of seymour duncan pick ups.
and it looks like the dissimulate guitarist uses some emg (81's?)
also- sam ( sorry for using your name) i cannot downpick anywhere near the speed of massacre- did you use a metronome to be able to play that fast? also how good are you at playing things such as sweeps, arpeggios and neo classical type things?
and i plan on going out to buy a jcm 2000- the tone is incredible, thanks for showing it to me through the DVD! which model do you guys play through .
On the dvd there seemed to be alot of emphasis on the bass sound but i can barely hear it on the dissimulate cd except in last mistake and the slide on no one wins. other than that, it just blends with the guitar :-(- unless thats what you were going for
thanks for your time and hope to see you in the states soon!.. well i guess not the horned one anymore.

the guy wanted to be punched in the face because he worded up the band before the show and I understand that he was heckling berzerkerbass and so the guy deserved it. I am also quite amazed that he punched that guy at all, but there you go, shit like that happens at concerts.

hey Berzerker, why don't you make a thread like the one you did for your user names but instead for answers to some really freaquently asked questions. Every week or two some one asks a question that has been asked a million times before, even though you make a point to talk to your fans i can see it being pretty annoying to answer the same question over and over again! but hey thats just my opinion!

hey berzerker bass, now that we established that we're both geniuses, i'm curious on why you chose that bass to use. i noticed in the pics you busted a string and you did'nt go out of tune? is it because the strings are independent according to the bridge? oh, btw, especially like your vocals on the dvd for death reveals.....real raw and nasty. any easter eggs on the dvd? later genius.

it was my first time seeing morbid angel. it was 1989 in staten island. i was on my way to the show when i heard to people arguing in a tour bus. it was quite loud. it was very dark.....i think it was richard brunelle who called pete a SPIC! that was my first taste of LIVE morbid angel. LOL. they were arguing over equipment i think. pete comes out and i talked to him. he was really cool. he said it was just part of being on tour. nicest guy you ever want to meet.....but odd. i have stories.
and i've heard of people asking to get hit at shows. when i played, back then, a kid asked me to take his soul. i gave him a stick of gum, instead.
hey, BERZERKER BASS, you're the only one i did'nt get a chance to meet at the bb king blues club in nyc. i met the others. drummer was especially cool.

berzerker bass
07-11-2004, 10:29 PM
for the genius bass question...yep the strings are independant, so when I broke that string the others didn't go out of tune. I nearly broke my brain trying to transpose the rest of the set on the remaining strings though. Sorry I didn't get to meet you at BBKings, but I was out the back eating my way through the selection of food they had there, first good feed I'd had in a while.
The skateboarding footage is from a visit to a skate park in portland, not sure if it's one of the members.

unless you are using a tremolo bridge, breaking a string isnt going to put you out of tune.
Ibanez BTB's have a long scale length and pretty burly tone anyway. I see plenty of reason for him to use one.
lordmaul30
07-15-2004, 09:52 PM
not necessarily true. david vincent used a tremolo bar on his custom bass and did'nt have an issue with it going out of tune. but the BTB does interest me because of the strings being independent. now, BERZERKER BASSIST, before we were interrupted, are you the same bassist that sent out a formal letter stating you would leave the berzerker or a new bassist? are you the bassist that switched from guitar to bass? i did'nt get to meet you at bbkings. i met luke, the guitarist and your drummer G-money(won't disclose his name, but someone close to him, that is a friend of mine, said it would be cool for me to introduce myself at that show). did'nt get to see you guys due to the infamous wrong time slot the club gave me. i got there after you guys left the stage. are you guys coming back to nyc any time soon? later GENIUS!!!

Ok only idiots talk shit about the berzerker coppying slipknot and despite liking berzerker a whole lot more than slipknot as a band the berzerker haven't been out longer. slipknot have been going since 1993, although they did not have a record until late 1994 early 95. Please don't ask stupid questions like that!! the berzerkers image could not be associated with slipknot other than they both wear masks, the berzerkers masks look almost like real skin!! where as slipknots are obviously just attempts to hide their ugly ass faces from the crowed incase they suck (as they them selves have said many times, up until the point they started making big bux's then it was all about each band memebers personality being amplified by the mask or some bull shit like that!)

by sticking a tape under the floating bridge that caused all the strings to slacken, which effectively lowered the tuning from A to D a couple of octaves down.

What type of software was used to create and assemble the drum's on the first album? (If any anyway).
This one can be probably be answered by any member of the band.
Has berzerker guitar(still dont know his name) tried playing the massacre riff down picked and if so did he succed? That's assuming alternate picking is used for the riff live.
