Hi everyone, just signed up here, and need some advice, as i simply cannot decide.

I am a fairly experienced guitar player, i have been playing about six years and am into a lot of styles, blues, classical and of course, very heavy metal.

i am in the market to buy a new guitar for a technical metal band i am forming. i have owned semi hollows, les pauls strats and even built a few.

I am struck between the washburn x200 pro e , and the wi200 pro e

I will be tuning to drop B ( B to C# )

they are both bolt on guitars, with emg 81 and 85 pickups.
the only real difference other than asthetics, is that one is a 25.5 scale
and the other is 24.75 . one has a gibson style headstock angle, and the other a paralell 'scoop' fender style headstock.

now i like high string tension, and the added scale length of the 25.5 scale will be better in that respect, as well as added bite and cut through ( which is a major factor in drop tuned metal.

I was worried that the strat style headstock ( as in the scoop and string trees) might play a factor in the sound.

I was also worried that the 24.75 will be a bit muddy for drop b tuning.

i will be using gauge 13-58 string on both guitars.

so after all that, what does everyone think?

what guitar would you choose and why?

( out of the two , based on scale length, and construction(headstock))

remember, same pickups, same neck joint, different headstock construction and scale)

thanks in advance for your thoughts!!

Neither. I'd pick a Jackson. Washburn guitars are shitty. You'll be replacing it rather quickly anyway. If you truely want a metal machine, save up for a Jackson or maybe, if you dare, a Dean V

Why are washburn guitars shitty?
I love my rs 980 to death

Ive had some people at different guitar shops that said the same thing about washburns.. but after playing this baby I always get the comment "damn nice guitar"

Caparisons ftw, especially for low tunings.

If you are tuning as low as B i would really check out some ibanez's. with the egde II tremelo and floyd rose it makes drop tuning really easy...i would just make sure when you buy it to get it setup for a better action settings to acomodate loose strings. also when you have your guitares set up, don't change string guages. Remeber the string guage you had it set up for....if you change it fret buzz can happen and you will lose sustain.

I have an older diamond series schecter strat , I love it . The body must be ash , because it's really heavy in weight , unlike any other strat i have tried .
The pick-ups are seymour duncs . Which in my opinion , are top . I play everything from rush , maiden , to deicide - cannibal corpse etc . This guitar can do it all . And sounds better than most other axes triple its price tag .

That being said , im not saying go run out and grab a schecter , cause I havnt played a newer model that is quite like this in personality , and sound .

Im saying , try MANY guitars . And the one that " feels " right - buy it .
