BEADGC, an octave up from a 6 string bass. It's very symmetrical and just makes more sense than standard tuning. Plus, it's super low and sounds fuckin' heaaavy.

An example as to why it makes more sense to me. This is just C major up the the 12th fret.
C-0 2 4 5 7 9 11 12
G-0 2 4 5 7 9 10 12
D-0 2 3 5 7 9 10 12
A-0 2 3 5 7 8 10 12
E-0 1 3 5 7 8 10 12
B-0 1 3 5 6 8 10 12
edit - This also means that if you are doing any 2 hand tapping or any harmonizing at all you don't have to take into account the high strings half step difference.

I've been messing around with DADEAD on my acoustic for a while. Cool stuff.

Yep, definitely a blessing for harmony.Especially considering how a lot of death metal guitarists use "symmetrical riffs", and move patterns around without following a specific scale.Decrepit Birth is a good example. Why the hell is the 2nd string different in standard tuning anyway?I guess it's better this way for songs based on major chords (which is basically 75% of what guitarists play).I say guitarists around the world should fight the power and claim their semi-tone back.

E-A is tuned in 4rths
A-D is tuned in 4rths
D-G is tuned in 4rths
G-B is tuned in 3rds
B-E is tuned in 4rths
it's tuned this way because it makes the guitar easier to play. for example, you can strum away on a G major triad (DGB) or a E minor triad (GBE) and you don't even have to use your fretting hand for it.
someone correct me if I'm wrong though, this shit is new to me, haha.

Hell yeah. Love B tuning.
Lately though I've decided to tune to A. At first I thought it was kinda excessive, but Nile and Demilich did it and they sounded good. So now that's my default tuning and I just use a capo depending on what tuning I want.
Eb is one of my favorite tunings. It can make for some interesting sounding stuff and it reminds me of old school thrash.
Tunings are irrelevant to me, I'll play a guitar in any tuning... the only time a tuning matters is when it differentiates from standard, i.e. open tunings. I'm rather fond of E, Eb, D, C, and B though hahahahahaha.
But there's just something special about a low Ab... that shit really makes your bowels tremble, thank you SiKTH and Ion Dissonance for bringing this tuning to us!

I have several tunings I'm keen on;
E - progressive metal, jazz influences
C# - for death metal, slam
B - for doom and occasionally death metal
I have two basses that I keep in standard tuning (other being 5-string) and one bass in C#. My guitar is a 7-string, so its always in B.

DGDGBA on my 6-string
i'd love an 8, tho, and drop the 2 lowest there. i imagine that would be perfect!

Right now my favorite tunings on guitar are standard or drop D. And on bass I usually keep it standard BEADGCF (7-string), but I sometimes tune to BEADGBE to imitate teh guitar just for fun :D.

I tune my 7 down to Bb and love that. I'm gonna tune my Jackson probably to either a standard D or C, but I haven't chosen yet.
Another favorite of mine is DADFAD

BEADG with my 5-strings bass. I don't like very much down tunings because it's easier to make killer riffs . Staying standard I have to reflect much more.
