Ok bassnerds. A friend of mine told me that he is going to buy a Stingray. But it was only 2 Eq not 3 Eq. Now what is the big difference sound wise?? Do those beasts sound fucking awesome anyway???

The only difference is that he won't be able to fiddle with his Mid frequencies. No biggie. Musicman's always sound killer.

Never thought they felt all that great but they sound rad.

I've had a fascination with these basses since the early years - I've never gotten a chance to play a REAL Musicman Stingray, one of the fancy ones, but, Musicman makes really good shit...

I've got one. I sold my warwick corvette to get it. I think it sounds great for most stuff, but I definitely prefer the warwick for playing jazz.

Ive played a few Stingrays and they sound awesome. Kind of a different feel though, not really good or bad, just different aha.. Im not really keen on that traditional look, but with the right color combinations they can look good. Do they all only have 21 frets? I'm not really down with that, but whatever.

Yeah they all have 21 frets. Oh well.

What model Warwick were you playing, Stabwound? Musicman's don't have that focused punch that most fusion needs and the 2 band eq/bridge pickup only combo doesn't leave much for upright tones. You are crazy for that tradeoff.

yea, stingrays are more geared towards rock type music... but i've heard them sound nice in metal situations as well.

I had a fretless corvette standard. It was fun for a few years, but I just wanted a change.

I will add though that I think I'm going to go back to warwick and get a 6 string thumb. I love those basses.

They are definitely really rad. The necks on their 6's are like logs though. For the price I'd rather pick up a used Modulus or Ken Smith.

Edit - A brand new Worker Bee Bass Six costs 2400. I just found me my next guitar.

Walnut Body - No upcharge
Wenge Neck - 100 dollar upcharge
Purpleheart Fingerboard - No upcharge
Dual Delanos - 125 upcharge

2650 for the ballsiest sounding bass I can imagine.

Yeah? I know they make them with 2 different types of necks, but I've never actually played their 6, only the 5. I'm still looking around though, so I'm not sure what I'm going to be getting.

If you've got the funds, look at a Bongo as well.

Ahh maybe, but Stingray it is. Been my dream instrument for ages, plus a douche recommended it to me so I havenīt checked them out. hehe not the intelligent way to go, but the guy is fucking douche!! haha

But is the Bongo a new addition to their arsenal or what??

Yeah, it's funky looking and sounds bitchen. It's got 2 humbuckers and a 4 band EQ in it so they definitely stepped it up.

The bee basses look fantastic. I like the thunderbee a lot.
