the reviewer pretty much doesn't know anything about brutal death metal. Psalms is clearly one of the best death metal albums this year.

alas, many of the press sources that we send promos to end up reviewing the genre (as a whole) rather than the particular release.
So if the guy doesn't get "cookie-monster" vocals, "de-tuned" guitars, and blast-beats... he's just gonna wash over the release in the review, especially if the band is on the brutal end of the metal spectrum...
P.S. on the other hand, many many mag/webzines simply ignore our promos altogether and don't even bother to feature them.

exactly..........to brutal to comprehend :emot-eek:
It's a shame they don't "get it" like so many others because then they'd bear witness to a cornucopia of some of the best metal ever crafted...

It's hilarious seeing these reviewers call it "nothing new". It's the one line that explains their death-metal-ignorance if you will.
In other words, I don't care if you HATE this album... I'm not concerned with whether or not everyone thinks it is good - but there isn't another album to this point that sounds like Psalms of the Moribund. Stating this in your review simply lets us know that you don't understand the genre (or subgenre), and probably missed the point with all of the bands you somehow think DS sound like in the first place as well.
