Sure is...different.
Well after a complete listen it has grown on me since the start of it but I hope the rest of the album is more aggressive like Fix Your Face. I like the end a lot though.

It's from the Circuit City Indie sampler of everything, but yeah it seems to be their Unretrofied type song for Ire Works. Honestly I wouldn't mind a few songs like it but I hope the rest are more of a mix or a lot harder and intense.

Oh my Jesus fucking Christ, I thought it couldn't get any worse than 'Unretrofied'...
This is weakest heap of shit I have ever heard, I'm all for progression and change but this is just horse-shit.
I will download the album and if there is another song on it like this I won't buy it, if the rest is as good as 'Fix Your Face' I will.

why do you think that The Dillinger Escape Plan have a need to make an album more marketable? that's not their style, i thought Miss Machine was way better from their previous releases because it had diversity with songs like unretrofied and setting fire to sleeping giants... fix your face is great, but if the whole album was 'fix your face on repeat' that would be just plain dumb.

I hate to admit this because I was looking forward to 60 minutes of brutality more than anybody.
This is pretty bad, but growing on me. I try not to think of it as a Dillinger song. Cause if this was Prince or Bon Jovi or something (both of which it resembles), I'd be all about it. I'm too old to hate on pop music. Also, if the lyrics were about committing murder, that would have saved it.
Unretrofied was way worse, for my money. Still, I expected more out of a song called Black Bubblegum. Hopefully Milk Lizard fares better. I'd be real disappointed if they fouled up a song called fucking Milk Lizard.

this guy is right, where dillinger are, like most bands they need radio and MTV to play there videos and songs, to well sell more, with out them being too "heavy" and no swearing. But like i said before this means that there the rest of the album will be heavy dillinger music i can tell you that. so why is everyone worring its a good song ! :emot-blin

Paging Dr Debbkite. First, you should set the bone in Ben's foot. Then I want my head transferred onto the body of a dog, and a sixteen year-old girlfriend with the head of a deer. My regular doctor said no, stemming from a dispute over a blood test; after the test, I was outside of the building, and I looked into his office window as he was injecting my blood into his own veins; "That's bloody excellent" he said. The joke was on him, though, as I had contracted HIV from a blood transfusion which had been botched by this same doctor during an earlier visit. I lied on the medical paperwork because I don't want my employer to know that I am infected with HIV; I work as the chief donor at a local plasma bank, and they have policies regarding this sort of thing. My cookies taste very bad, by the way, but it isn't like they are inedible or anything. Just very bad, and possibly infected with HIV.

Yeah its pretty cool, and had to be done on purpose unless ben is running out of ideas now. Or maybe it was an accident and ben was thinkging "Shit i've got this amazing riff i've never used before! Ill put it in this song!".

i think its sort of in the same vein as Metallica's St. Anger, where they use the same lyric ("fuck it all and fuckin no regrets") as they used in Damage Inc. almost 20 years earlier.

I don't know why people complain, when they have alot of contrast in the songs , it shows.
1. Talent in diversity
2. Gregs singing skillzz
3. Either you get an extra song on the album or not.
3. I'd hate another album all like Calculating Infinity, it all got samey. Any smuck can write the same shit for a decade and get noted for it, but it takes talent to evolve in a band, and explore things to show you really are good musicians and not just.

I think people are arguing style v. quality here. The fact of the matter is, Unretrofied and Setting Fire were rather mainstream in both structure and style, and were both kickass songs (at least in my opinion). Black Bubble Gum, on the other hand, is quite bad. I don't mind the poppy style, I just think it's a bad song.

Hey all. First post here :).
Just wanted to say that I really like Black Bubble Gum quite a bit. What I love so much about DEP is that they're an experimental band that does all sorts of different songs while still sounding like the same band.
I admit that I don't like this song as much as Fix Your Face, but my first impression of this song was much better than my first impression of Fix Your Face...took a few listens for that song to grow on me to be honest.
However, I also am hoping that the rest of the album pushes things even heavier than Fix Your Face was.
In interviews with the band they said they were gonna try going back to the heavier roots of Calculating Infinity, and I certainly hope this isn't a bait and switch situation. As much as I'm loving the new material, I do hope that they can live up to their claim of hitting the heavy level of Calculating Infinity, as I hate it when bands say "Yeah, we're definitely gonna go back to our heavy roots" and then they totally mainstream everything, and make an even softer album then the previous one.

Maybe I'm a bit late on this one, but it appears that this song came from a Circuit City sampler, so it's definitely real.

Well, it better be the worst track on the album, or I'm afraid Ire Works is going to suck balls. Fix Your Face isn't anything spectacular either... :(

Sorry that I haven't posted any updates lately, but I have been kinda depressed ever since I lost my job at the plasma bank. My boss said that I make bad decisions sometimes and violate the rules. One time a little boy came in for some blood tests, and after I put the band aid on his arm he said he wanted a GI Joe band aid, not this one. I told him that I wasn't going to open the box of GI Joe band aids until the other box was empty, but he kept complaining so I held him down and tried to put band aids over his mouth, but he broke free and told my boss. Another client needed to change into her hospital gown and I said I would wait in the closet to give her some privacy, and I got in the closet and crouched down on the ground to look under the door, but I couldn't see anything so I opened the door, and when she tried to escape I beat her up pretty bad. And one time I was eating a steak in the waiting room to build up my strength for surgery, and also because I was on a strength building program for my muscles, and I felt so powerful that I beat up some of the people in the waiting room. I suffer from tunnel vision, which is good when I am working on a person's veins or other round things, but one of our client's veins were looking good, but allegedly there was blood coming from their ears, and their eyes. At the trial, I set free a swarm of mosquitos (AKA plasma pirates), but that didn't help at all. And at the Christmas party I did something terrible. They told me to light the mennorrah, and I don't know what that is, so I piled up a bunch of rags and empty boxes and started a fire that eventually spread into the party, killing some of them and sending a bunch of messy ashes everywhere, and I had trouble breathing and my eyes watered real bad. The guards saw me and tried to block me from going back to the party, but I ran past them and went into the other door. And a rabbeye saw that there was no mennorrah and refused to donate plasma, even though he had some of the most salable plasma I had ever seen.

The vocals are pretty reminiscent of The Blood Brothers at points.
If anything, this song at least shows Greg's vocal range. I mean, there's his soft singing vocals on Baby's First Coffin, which then turn into his louder singing vocals, then there's all sorts of clean vocal ranges on Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants, then there's his classic shout/scream, then there's his high-pitched screams, like in The Perfect Design and live performances of When Good Dogs Do Bad Things, and it really goes on and on...and that's just him; everyone else in the band really has equal ranges with their own parts of the band.
So, even if it's not the greatest Dillinger song, it at least proves that they can really go all across the board musically.
