Having a phobia of anything could make you cry if it's anywhere near you. I saw one lady afraid of kittens and she fucking flipped out.

Hey, it's not like it's up to people to choose whether or not they have a PHOBIA, haha.

actually...it really is up to the person...
according to psychology and all.
they may have a predisposition for a fear of something, but it's not something you can't overcome.

I can see being deathly afraid of something that is life-threatening like being trapped in a box or drowning. Unless this bitch is allergic to pet dander or something, she's dumb. The only thing i really can't stand and will freak out about is if something is covering my face and i can feel my own breath. That shit's scary.

Yes, it can be overcome...it's not a cakewalk. I was alluding to the predisposition you mentioned.
skin_blanketed just doesn't get it, lol.

I can understand phobias, because they're a different story altogether, but I don't understand why so many people are afraid of clowns. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

A phobia is an irrational fear. You can basically be scared of just about anything; it's not rational, that's the thing.
I have a mild phobia of moths. I don't have powerful panic attacks like that woman, but for reasons completely alien to my brain I cannot think straight if one buzzes into my face. The sensation of 'fear' is very acute, and getting the fuck away pops up as number one on my priorities list regardless of what I'm doing. I can't sleep if I know there's a moth in my apartment, and I'm always worried out of my mind when I'm sneaking up to crush the little fucker because they're so durable that it might not die. It's hard to put into words, really.
The odd thing, though, is that I KNOW this insect poses no threat to me at all. I probably weigh something along the lines of 7050 times the weight of the moth, but I still instinctively consider it a danger so immediate that I have to get out of its way a.s.a.p. The worst thing it can possibly do is sit on me, while I can (and most definitely will, given the chance) crush it on a whim. And yet its strangely erratic flight patterns have me scurrying off to the side as if were I dodging a bullet or something. Strange shit.

There are as many phobias as there are people with phobias...Xanthophobia is the fear of YELLOW, for God's sake...some people's minds are just wired a bit different than others.

in high school, some kids locked this kid in a dark closet and they didn't know that he had really bad claustrophobia. he came out crying and everybody was laughing at him. shit like that pisses me off, and i find it hard to laugh at any phobia.
