but as much as i love backwards marathon, it could have been one of the best songs ever if they hadnt gone back into the intro. the part after they play that again is really good. everything about that song is good minus going back into and intro. if they had gone into something super br00tal - or a mega breakdown or something. or just a completely new awesome riff...this song could have been their best.

/stating the obvious. just had to vent this.

i disagree man. i think it sounds good when they go back to that beginning riff, and then when you think its going to do all those crazy riffs in the beginning again it goes into this epic outro, and gives it a positive feeling at the end. i think its a great metaphor on life. backwords marathon is my favorite song on this album.

p.s. im listening to this album right now, on the piano part at selkies. blakes drums sound cool on this part haha

if backwards marathon had built up into something like ad a dglgmut's solo, but more along the lines of Dredg - a huge melodic wall of sound just crashing through your speakers like a tidal wave carrying you away to nirvana - it probably would have been the greatest song ever. But, no, they HAD TO LOOP BACK TO THE INTRO RIFF.

he looks fucking robotic on that song. haha. i love it.

but i disagree. i think it's perfect the way it is. they come out, go back into the intro, but then skip most of it and head straight back to the high points of the song, and i think it's great.

You know I'm right. You might think it's perfect the way it is, but if you heard the version that's going on in my head, you'd nut three ways to Tuesday and beg for them to re-record it.

Yeah, you are right, but I think it's fantastic as it is. It could've been better (yes, your way), but I think what we have is good enough.
