I saw BTBAM tonight in Huntington, WV at a terrible bar called "The Monkeybar"

Originally the show was supposed to have 4 bands, BTBAM,TRC,Cephalic Carnage, and a local band named Beyond All Hope. But the venue figured it would be a good idea to add Trivium and 5 more local bands, making the total band count 11. This also made tickets go from 14, to 30 dollars. But enough of how shitty the place was, onto the set!

BTBAM opened up with a new song, not sure what the name was but it was really good. It reminded me of stuff from TSC. After this song ended they went straight into All Bodies, which of course sounded great. They followed this with Shevanel Cut a Flip.
Next they played was Sun of Nothing. This song was fucking retarded good. It had so many different musical ideas in it, i couldnt keep track of what was going on. Its really heavy in the beginning and through the first half of the song actually. The heaviness is soon interrupted by a really comical part. Tommy was mimicking the guitars with his voice, it reminded me of something i would see in a cartoon on acid. It was a very nice touch to the song. The second half of the song was just a huge build up to Tommy and Paul harmonizing "I'm floating towards a sun of nothing" over a very powerful chord progression. The amount of buildup towards the ending makes it sound so relieving when it finally happened. This song makes me want to commit murder to get the leak.
After Sun of Nothing they played Backwards Marathon (something i have wanted to hear forever) and then closed with Selkies. So we got 6 total songs. The show was great but I wanted more!!! Thanks to Trivuim and the other 900 local bands BTBAM got their set cut,and whats funny is like 50 people left after BTBAM played, and there wasn't that many to begin with.

well i hope this made people more stoked than they already are for the new album.

i busted a huge nut when i finally heard that one live.
ill admit it...i didnt think tommy could pull it off live, but he actually sounds better live than on cd during the vibrato. scary shit.

ive heard bm live twice and tommy hit that note both times, while on the silent circus bonus dvd he totally choked.

but i got chills when i heard it the second time - cause i was right in his face singing it back at him along with everyone else.

You mean singing overall? Because they don't do BM on the Silent Circus reissue.

Man, I think I mentioned this in another thread... But unless you have proper monitoring, then it's next to impossible to sing correct notes. I think that, while some singers relate a certain "feel" or "vibration" to the note they're hitting, most of them need to at least be able to hear the first few notes of their line so they don't get "lost". Unfortunately, so much of this is up to the venue's sound equipment as well as the person behind the board.

Tommy pretty much aces every note in this video, probably because of a proper monitoring setup:

Considering that it's a live set, you have to be somewhat forgiving. I think it's an excellent performance.

Hell yeah, Blake is a damn good drummer. I wasn't really sure about him at first... The first time I saw them with him behind the kit, I noticed that all of the rhythmic embellishments that I was used to on TSC just weren't there. I don't know, maybe they were just different... But now, he's totally made everything his own by filling out the beats with his own embellishments.

Hell, that probably won't make any sense to anyone other than my dumb ass.
