first off, let me just say that wisconsin sucks incredible ass. no selling beer after 9 pm?! i thought this was the home of drunkards in the us.
anyway, we were pretty stoned on the way there so we were late. missed the first 5 bands or something and walked in right when my guys in carnivale hit the stage...
carnivale (http://www.myspace.com/carnivale)- ruled. their new shit is fuckin primo. if you haven't heard them, check them out. they will be touring the east coast so hit up the show when they come to town.

tower of rome - meh
russian circles - rawwww. wasn't the first time i saw them but they're so good each time. nice mellow, instrumental rock band. similar to pelican. listen to them!
hewhocorrupts - if you don't know who they are you are totally missing out. the funniest mother fuckers next to horse the band. get with the program!
fassw - these dudes know how to party and they do it well.
deadtofall - hate em or love em, they put one hell of a show on. i of course(being from chicago) love them. jontofall knows how to get shit movin- bangin mother fuckers' heads.
a life once lost - TIGHT. nuff said.
black dahlia murder - who? fuck this band. we left early.

born osiris, beneath the sky, emmure, catherine, empire - no care. sorry. emmure is a straight up acacia strain rip off. of all the bands to rip off...
winds of plague - josh(indigent)'s old band. they were alright. no terminator breakdown though :(
plague bringer - they were decent. they opened with some sunn o))) type of sludge shit. caught people off guard.
with dead hands rising - these dudes are raw digga. i hope they finish recording soon so they can tour.
an end to flesh - no care
harlots - ruled. check these dudes out if you haven't heard.
veil of maya - of course i had to represent and activate the never-ending stage dives. i don't understand how one could not like these dudes. it must be since they're expecting them to sound like cynic because of the name. (veil of maya is a hindu term btw)
as blood runs black - no care
beneath the massacre - i've never heard them prior to but i became a fan after seeing. bad ass stage presence and brutal shit. does anybody have their ep?
the faceless - no care
ion dissonance - they got pretty crunk however it was just not the same. gabe had that creepy intensity that the new guy just doesn't have. i still enjoyed it but the dude gassed pretty early and was losing his voice. made for a good mic stealing opportunity though i guess.

the rest of the summer slaughter bands ruled. some sound problems during cattle decap and decapitated didn't play a full set but overall it was good as expected.
my only gripe with the entire fest were the shitty no name bands and the fact that in and outs weren't allowed. good show though and if you are in the midwest area and didn't go, you are incredibly gay.
