DETONATION
EMISSION PHASE
(Osmose)
KKK
Dutchmen score with sonceptual melodic death.
Its hard to make really sinister metal these days that sounds genuinely exciting. With much of the modern emphasis going on melody, 'Emission Phase' will doubtless prove truly refreshing for a large portion of the world's metalheads. With a diversity of guitar work that includes overblown solos, sumptuous hooks and gargantuan riffs aplenty, the Dutch quartet send forth heavy metal throughout. Clean vocals make only a couple of appearances, so the wonderfully varied guitars take all the credit for the melodic part of Detonation's work. The conceptual tale of a massive nuclear event means its not short of a bit of substance as well. Nice.

DETONATION – ”Emission Phase”
Album (Osmose, 2007, Sound Pollution)

From Transcending the Mundane..
Detonation is a Dutch thrash/death metal band that is about to make an impact on the world of heavy music. Not only has Detonation mastered the art of thrash/death metal, they made it their own and took it to new levels. Their use of melody, rhythmic riddles and dynamics make them one of the most interesting thrash/death bands around. There is not a dull moment on the album. The music is in your face brutal, but inviting and pleasant. As a band they are as tight as you can get. They know what they are doing with their instruments. Their use of melody is just fantastic. Their melodies are completely original and fit the music real well. They don't try to mimic the Gothenburg sound. The solos are excellent and well placed. They are always melodic with minimal wanking. The vocals are gruff, but easy to understand. The use of clean vocals is executed nicely as well. They aren't used a lot, but Koen Romeijn's clean vocals fit the music well and sound great. This is one of the most pleasant suprises of 2007 in terms of thrashy death metal. If you are a fan of thrash or death metal, this is a most have. If you are turned off by thrash or death metal because of the lack of melody and dynamics, give this album a shot. This album should seriously please any fan of heavy music. Great stuff!

BANDA: DETONATION

Otto knows Spanish right, maybe he can translate this one:
I'll try! Here goes!
The third album of the dutch Detonation, known before as Infernal Dream. Their stable formation (without changes since the band was founded) and their ongoing evolutionary compositions album after album, have established these Dutch as one of the most promising bands of their country.
They debuted in 2002 with “An Epic Defiance”, released self-produced, and the reactions did not make them hope (? not sure about that one...). The powerful French label Osmose Productions spotted them and offered a contract for the next 3 albums, including a re-release of first. On Osmose the second album was released, entitled “Portals to Uphobia”, which made them take off definitively and got them exposed to a major group of listeners. It opened the opportunity to play with bands such as Nile, Decapitated and many others with an international reputation.
Their two first albums have always been compared with Dark Tranquillity, including the cover of their debut even being designed by Niklas Sundin of DT, melodic Swedish death metal, with the ingredients that all we know. With “Emission Phase”, the Dutch have not broken with the influences that have taken to them up to here, but they nevertheless have evolved towards a more particular and personal sound, incorporating some progressive elements, more guitar solos, a greater variation of riffs etc.
Without a doubt the new collaboration with producers Jochem Jacobs (Textures) and Bouke Visser has been one of the reasons for the new sound which is much more professional and looked after. Their work at the mixing table has been spectacular, and they have managed to produce all instruments with great clarity and transparence touching perfection at many occasions, without losing a bit of the rhythmic power that always has characterized the band.
We did not take in account something has changed in its musical concept, the opening track, “Invoking The Impact” is a clear sample of it. The progressive elements, the difficult rhythms of the guitars and the melodies resemble Opeth a lot. It's a perfect track to open a CD with, with many rhythm changes, melodies, good guitar solos, that surprise at the first listen. “When Stone Turns To Ash” only reinforces the first impressions. The rhythms are technically very good, in which the drums of Thomas are emphasized, who seems equally comfortable in progressive rhythms as in very fast and aggressive beats. The melodies continue to be perfect, mixing the personal and sentimental ones with darker sounding ones.
“Chokedamp” returns the remembrance of Opeth to me, not only because of the solos, progressive rhythms, contrary drum beats and so on, but also by the presence of clean voices, much in the style of Mikael Åkerfeldt. The clean voices of Koen have that same texture, half angel-like, half paranoid. It's a shame they don't use them more during the rest of the album.
“2nd Sun Ascending” is a short instrumental song, which starts with an acoustic guitar and the sound of rain to burst into all the contra-rhythms and progressive rhythms you can imagine about a minute later. The final song of the album, “Fallout”, is a mix of atmospheric and instrumental elements, with slow rhythms supported by constant punteados (erm, I guess staccato guitars?) and solos, that transfer a dark and intriguing contribution to the song.
In summary, an album of melodic death metal, with very good melodies and numerous duels of guitar solos supported rhythmically very well. The level of musicianship of all members is very high, especially of the drummer, with complex rhythms and many variations that contribute a great instrumental level to the songs. Very thrashy rhythms, a style that marked the beginnings of the band, surrounded by a very attractive progressive halo. If you like bands as Opeth or Dark Tranquillity you do should not forget about this disc!

Si!!! :emot-LOL:
Here it is:
Stop! This means to be in the right place at the right moment!
Detonation is on the scene since 2003 and "Emission Phase" is their third work, a band that since it is born has astonished the world with a trash metal melodic that has never drawn divertions to death, for this I think that a perfect album like Emission Phase is, can finally bring the band to the metal that counts.
Too many bands today try this sonorities, but no one that I heard recently was able to mix wisely the various components to give life to an aggressive and vital metal that hit you at the first listening: the third full-lenght of Detonation did it!
12 tracks to develop a apocaliptic concept: life on the earth and the destiny of human race after a nuclear explosion.
4 technical musicians that put all their musical knowledge to create pieces of a strong impact, where post atomic atmospheres open with violence and wit speed solo like Testament, creating a personal sound various but for a sure success. Once again I have to compliment with the Osmose for their great product.
Thanks to one of my Italian colleagues ;-)

Detonation - Emission Phase
Esim. nro3 Craven Ablaze ja nimikko kipale nro7 Into the Emission Phase ja nuo loppupään pari instrumentaalia on jotain aivan saatanan hienoa kuunneltavaa.

From Metal Inside.De ;
(lh)
