View Full Version : MDF V - Origin drop, Misery Index Added

Looks like one last final change to this year's MDF:

Origin is cancelling. They have been confirmed for 5-6 months, but sent their agent an e-mail that says "after our last tour, we have to cancel MDF because we can't take more time off of work".

Yes, we think that is pretty stupid.

Misery Index is replacing them.
Seems to be the year of dumb excuses from bands.

They're def. way better, but I've seen both already, so I don't really care. I've seen MI a bunch of times, so probably just go look at shirts during their set.

Yeah, I wouldn't be a happy promoter with all these cancellations.

But, Origin is way fucking better than Misery Index IMO.

Echoes of Decimation is fantastic. One of the best extreme metal albums.

Better than any fucking hardcore influenced DM band such as Misery Index. Not that they are bad, but certainly not more interesting than Origin to me.

All three releases are amazing. The self titled is alot slower than III and wayyyyyyyyyy slower than Echoes, but they're all great!

I'd say Misery Index has more of a grindcore influence, than hardcore.

Umm, not the type of breakdowns that include chugging open strings with very standard and lame rhythms. That's a hardcore breakdown.

Well, call em what you want, but you're the first person I've seen call Misery Index hardcore. It's just grindcore to me.

"Unfortunately the festival has suffered another cancellation. Origin has dropped off of MDF V due to scheduling conflicts. Misery Index has been confirmed to replace them on Sunday, May 27th. We expect and hope that this will be the final cancellation that we must deal with.

TICKET AVAILABILITY UPDATE: We've been receiving a lot of messages about the availability of MDF tickets, so we would like to clear it up for you. As of today, approximately 550 2-day passes remain available. Traditionally the end of April and the month of May always see the highest frequency of orders, so we still expect that only a limited amount of tickets will remain at the door. It's still your best bet to get an advance ticket. Additionally we'd like to make it clear that you will be able to order tickets through the website to be placed at will call during the week leading up to the fest."

Yeah, that all influenced grindcore. Everyone looks at the word hardcore as the worst thing in the world.
There has been some amazing HC bands.

In your opinion perhaps,
108, old Agnostic Front, Uniform Choice, No For An Answer, Insted, Integrity, Bad Brains, old Cro-Mags, Ignite, harvest, Judge, Youth of Today, Left For Dead, The Swarm, HHIG, Tragedy, CR, Spazz, Refused, Earth Crisis, Token Entry, Turmoil, Unbroken, VOD, Warzone, I could keep going and I know I can't be the only one on here that likes older HC.

Iasked Netherton about that- and he looked at me like I was fucking crazy?? I go what dude-i hear like a D.R.I./ Cro-mags/ old hardcore type influence in Misery Index and he goes ah no nothing but pure fucking death metal- I just said ok what ever dude and walked away- so I'm glad i'm not the only one on the planet that thinks that

oh and I still like agnostic, bad brains, cro-mags, dri, mod, sod... I used to love that shit

misery index and hardcore breakdowns?
i haven't heard much of discordia, but what i've heard (what they played live) was just relentless death grind. some circle pit riffs.
