Hi,
I play in an old school death metal band. Influenced by stuff such as Demigod, early Morbid Angel, Abhorrence, Funebre etc. Anyway, I've recently recorded our demo on my own, and I'm a little stuck when it's come to mixing the bass drum. I'm trying to get a kind of "Altars of Madness" sound on it, but I can't quite get there when the double kicks come in. I've compressed, gated and used a multi-band compressor on them, and the beats sound just right on the singles, but as soon as the doubles come in the high end just dies and they sound muddy and dull. Anyone got any recommendations?

No worries, I'll see if I can hunt it down. Cheers for the heads up.

I actually suspected this might have been the way to go about it, as we had to record the drums in my uni studio, and with the uni kit - which was set up for all the dull soft rock bands that go into there. I knew the sound wouldn't be ideal, but I didn't think we'd have this much trouble. Oh well, drumagog looks like a good toy to play with ;)
