Question for the guys....

Hi guys...

I read somewhere (including the GC site I think) that GC would have a song on the new Dead Can Dance tribute cd "The Lotus Eaters"....searching for it, I found it (even available to download) but there is no GC song there. I though you guys where going to have a cover of the 'Cantara' song.....what happened? Any info or insight on this matter?

We were asked to be a part of the compilation, but we didnt feel comfortable about it, since no one of us have ever heard any of the DCD material before, and since this was a tribute.... Well, you get my point about not feeling comfortable about it. Anyways, they sent us some CDs to listen to, and we picked out a song we felt we could do justice and we made our own version of it. But.... (there is always a `but...) when i wrote them that we were ready to mix the song, they told us someone else had picked that song, and they forgot to tell us (i wrote them before we recorded it that we chose this song. They just replied with "cool, its our favourite".

We were asked to do another song, but at that point it felt right to pull out of the whole thing - we didnt want to be in it in the first place.

That's understandable....

...but a shame too since I would had loved to hear what you guys could do, adding in your touch to a DCD song....and they should had said something before you recorded it (since it's obvious that they knew you chose that song since it's been posted in some places and in their website too I think that you where choosing that song).

But now that I mention record, will you ever like to release that song? Did you liked how it turned out? Maybe you can release it later on like a hidden bonus track in a cd or maybe just release it on the GC website, as a treat to the people that visit it, that way you don't have to do anything fancy mastering or mixing it...just something different....
