A final product is usually the collected sum of 1000 arbitrary variables. and few non-arbitrary variables.
Point being: Best case scenario = vague similarity.

Yeah agreed. Too many variables. Mostly is because those guitarists are excellent players. The guitars are intonated and set up properly, good amps, good preamps, etc. Also its important to have the sound you want coming from your amp and guitar before you hit record.

Well , i think you might find this interesting :

This link you to the personal Myspace Page of Trey from Morbid Angel. In the middle of the page (right above the "heroes" section) there's a slideshow with some images of his istruments and gears. As you can see from the slideshow he usually record his guitars with a Marshall JCM900 amps , and the strange "echoes" that you can easily hear in mostly of Morbid Angel solos are made by covering the microphones with a fish bowl . Is Trey a genius? or simply mad? :icon_mad:
By the way i have a question for Colin :
- some friends of mine saw recently Vile in Milan here in italy
( during the tour with Hate Eternal , Deeds of Flesh and Impaled ) and they
said to me that Vile used 2 Peavey Triple XXX : one guitar played with the
crunch channel and the other one with the ultra channel. I also saw Severe
torture and the almighty Suffocation using this setup. So since i play with a
Peavey triple XXX i would know why you used to do that if is it possible.
It's a way to get a much cleaner sound? PLS let me know!
:emot-drun cheers!

Those xxx amps are owned by the tour promoter. Thats why we were using them. Good amps though. I think everyone was using them and we all messed around with them, trying different settings. Crunch is a little less fizzy sounding, a little bigger sounding but has a bit less gain. Eiither way they are decent amps.
