Deicide's "Legion" is unarugably the best death metal album ever. Everything else is a runner up or also ran.

i cant agree there. i like it and all but Atheist, Dismember, Vader, Bolt Thrower, Death, Immolation, and Suffocation have all released better albums

i originally had Dim Mak pegged as the best but i think the new Deicide edges it by the slightest of margins. only ones i can think of that are yet to come out are the new Arsis and Martyr albums which outta be good

Ordinally I wouldn't waste a second of my day with this crap, but since I got 3 messages through our website about this thread and one from myspace I'd thought I'd come over here and see what all the fuss is.
First let me say that I don't think "Legion" is the best death metal album ever, I don't even think it's the best Deicide album. I'm glad some of you like it.
And to "Defleshuary" the only reason I will respond to you is cause you named me personally and went beyond the music. Do you know me? I don't think you do, so I'm not sure how you personally dislike me. Let me say I never heard of your band and when I went to the link of it you provided and read your bio and listened to that crap you call music on there I couldn't stop laughing. Brother, you couldn't even write an intro for a Deicide song. Your music is garbage, your band can't even play it's instruments let alone write good songs. Go tip cows or fuck sheep or whatever it is you amish mother fuckers do, but keep my name out of your mouth punk! Looks like finnie and tenaciousg got lucky to not get a tonguelashing from "Glenn Benton" for their dislike in him and his music!!! You guys are lucky you don't have bands posted for him to laugh at, haha.
Good lord (better not say that in the presence of this satanist), I really hope it is him and he takes a messageboard this goddamn seriously. Lighten up!
Also, I hope he really listened to my band and hates it this much. I know my band will never be any where near as big as Deicide. At least we're having fun!

Forgot to add that our bassist loves the new album and probably wouldn't agree with my dislike of Deicide's albums. So hey Glen! One of us likes your music!

Legion was terrible. I remember how huge a letdown it was when it came out. Once Upon the Cross is their best album.
My fav of all time is Carcass' "Necroticism".
If you don't consider that deathmetal, I'd be inclined to go with either:
Domination by MA
Human by Death or
Retribution by Malevolent Creation.

With reason. They take so long to absorb fully that hardly anyone seems to appreciate the genius and songwriting skill that they possess.
Also, 'tastik, I honestly prefer their last two albums to the early stuff by a good margin. Not to confuse things... I absolutely LOVE the hidden lore and serenadium, but they're very different.. and I prefer the later stuff.
That doomy riff at the end of Random Bludgeon Battery is one of the best metal riffs in existence.
