Hey... new user.. just wondering if any MD natives in blatimore could give me some information. Im coming down to Auditory Assult Fest from just out side of Toronto Canada, and i know as bout as much about baltimore as Stephen Colbert has told me... SO... anyone know:
1. Places to stay? (cheep)
2. Bars to frequent? (i needs me sume cheep american beer)
3. um... other bars to go to? ( i drinkalot)
4. places to meet local metalheads? ( the locals are always the wildest)

Or actually anything that would help a canuck oot.... ugh.. sorry bout that eh...

well im a local so ive never really needed to stay at a hotel we just always had afterparties at our places which we will probobly be doing again this year unless we get too drunk during the fest and have no more party left in us....which i doubt, however the MDF website does have a list of hotels which you can find HERE (http://www.supremebrutality.com/fest/hotels.html) the closest and the one many people last year talked with me about was the wyndham and is probobly the most ideal place to stay at because it is a few minutes walk away from sonar, as far as bars go sonar where the fest will be held at is one also the sidebar is around the corner. if you walk afew blocks behind the club where MDF is held at you will hit baltimore street which is just a huge stretch of bars and strip clubs...oh and there will be plenty of local metal heads at the show and especially if they do a prefest show on the night before the fest like they have in previous years

I had some kid from new york tell me baltimore was more "hood" than harlem at MDF 06. That's bullshit, the locals will leave you alone aside from a panhandler here and there. Besides this kid looked like Tony Danza so that pretty much killed his credibility

If you stay in the wrong area like we did, Baltimore is a hood. We stayed by Camden Yard and after night two, we saw a dude get mugged across the street while we were talking to some of the guys in Embalmer. They said that their friend got mugged the night before. Just be careful when handling your money and you should be alright.

well guys thanks for the information. ... i'll check out the Wyndham... sounds like my best bet. i was hoping you guys had a "metal" bar like we do up here near Toronto (Red Square Nightclub) but if you got a whole street lined with bars not far from the show, then that er' do.

!Oh New question!... i like geting work done in places i travel to... any reccomend a good tattooist and their shop?... if anything i'd get the movie "battle royale"'s logo done, i been thinking about it what better then to have it done while im there... mabe alter the tatt to be a AAF commeration...

As far as ghetto's and all that shit... the last festival i survived was Hellfest, downtown Syracuse and its bums wern't too bad ... (just dont come to the states with canadian $$ expecting to get it exchanged on 4th july weekend) ...

it would probobly be best to leave you illigals in the hotel room security at the fest isent bad but last year there was police everywhere outside and you dont want to risk missing out on any of the fest by getting busted especially busted in a different country that has far more serious laws involving such substances but if you would like to get a hold of some your best bet would be to PM someone on the board that lives in the area or find someone at the show lol

I stayed at Tremont on St.Paul, two blocks from the Sonar. No issues with the local population here, though I didn't stray from the downtown area.
