If you're playing it dropped B .11's would work but it'll sound muddy. I suggest you get something that's like .12-.52

so like .12-.52 for the drop B alone and like 11's for the rest you reckon ?

I use 12-52s for drop B, but I'd like to use 13s. However I don't think I could them to fit into the stock tuners.

I don't know if you're joking or not.. but I never go thicker than 9s.. I usually have 8s.
But i do a weird setup.
I don't remember the exact gauge for all of them but its something like
8
13
19
30
42
56
where on the low end it gets ridiculously low. I started doing this when I first started using dropped tuning, and I like the overall feel of the setup, so I kept it.

I was totally joking. 9's for open Ab would be the floppiest string tension ever.
I'm in D standard and I use 10's.

I just don't like 10s in general. 11s are okay, 12s are better... 8s are my favorite though

I use the same tuning but my lowest string is a gauge .49. I don't get real thick 1's cuz my trem can take it but if u have a string through or fix bridge go w/ a .52. But u don't want something too heavy if ur doing leads.

WHY IS EVERYONE SUCH A RETARD WHEN IT COMES TO STRINGS/TUNINGS/GAUGES?!?!?.. IT'S SIMPLE MATH!!!

uh, im not retarted with string or guages or tunings at all....i said drop b the way i did so nobody would be like OMG LYKE ITS NOT CALLED THAT TUNING! and i asked the question about the bass strings because i would rather get some input rather than spend $20 on strings that are to light.
so fuck you and your badass avatar...

I use Ernie Balls. They're pretty durable and I get them for decent prices. Eventually I'll man up and buy some tougher strings like DR's or Elixir's but right now my money is going towards school, which is killing me.
