So I'd say everyone agrees that this isn't as good as Malice. Personally, I think something about it makes this album a lot more monotone, maybe the new lyricist. But what parts really stand out to you guys? I really like the little riff at about 2:45 of Post Collapse.

I think the album is great. It met my expectations completely because I knew it wouldn't be able to touch Malice. I think the more structured songs are a breath of fresh air, and I think Karl isn't as bad as everyone's making him out to be.

I think we should make another thread about this album.

I don't enjoy it as much as Malice, but that being said, I think it's fucking brilliantly written. Listen to the structure and the transitions, best work done by a recent metalcore band by far. The songs themselves just don't grip me quite the same way, so it can't hold up to their previous. It's still really good though. I actually like the singing part quite a bit, and first and last riff in Post Collapse is fucking mean. I'm sure more parts will start to distinguish themselves with more listens.

I like it, a lot. This is the first Misery Signals album I've ever listened too and i'm pretty goddamned impressed. Track 6 reminds me of Gojiria for some odd reason, I don't know why, just that whole beginning riff, it's awesome.

the production ruins it for me. they went from slightly over-produced to slightly under-produced. that's hard to deal with, since it makes the material sound less clean and polished which gives it a demo quality in my mind. i think that bands have to maintain or improve their previous CD production quality otherwise it'll end up sounding "cheap."
the new acacia strain is another good and recent example. new production is total ass, but i never liked that band anyways.

I really don't think so. It's pretty good, but not life altering or anything. It might last 1 full night on my playlist.

kinda like vheissu.
it was so fucking badass until i had listened to it about 396 times in a row all the way through. now it has to be cold weather or i have to be in the mood for it. still the best album of 2005 though.

I think there is something less emotional about Karl's vocals compared to Jesse's. It just seems to stay at a certain point or straight line, whereas Jess brought you up and down and kept some sort of emotion with his screaming. I knew this wouldn't be as good as Malice, but I think it's still great, how great, I won't know until I've listened to it for a couple weeks.

Hmmm, call me crazy but I just listened to OMATMH and I really didn't like it as much as this one, I also prefer the singer on Mirrors more than the one on OMATMH. Too much spoken word on OMATMH imo. It's still pretty good, but to me it's not as good as this new album. I fucking love this new album. And I think the production on Mirrors might just be a bad rip, hopefully, that's my only complaint about it really.

it sounds like a different band to me now, but in a good way. alot more tuff guy and brutal. and I would much rather hear this album played live because of how brutal it is.
Misery signals has become an almost essential band for me to listen to in my life. to be honest the riffs are not what catch me its the lyrics and vocals for sure that win me

If you listen closely, at 0:45 in The Failsafe, you can hear a man talking and I think he says ESPN. You can hear him talking from like 0:35 - 0:50 or somewhere around there. So I think it's just a bad rip. I'm sure it won't be all fuzzy and shit on the actual CD.
