View Full Version : Exhumed not coming to obscene extreme

According to news at obscene extreme's pages Exhumed has cancelled just about a week before the gig. I was sort of looking forward to seeing the band but this kind of treatment is embarassing. If you have to cancel do it early enough for the festival organizers to have time to book a replacement. This is something I'd expect from gay bands like slipknot etc...

You don't even know why they cancelled, do you? Would you say these things to Slayer when they cancelled a few shows in 2002 when Tom Araya's father died of a heart attack suddenly?

im with her:D

Yeah, I know, they will not come because... they're simply tired! What kind of excuse is that? It's a lack of respect. They could canceled the show few months ago , if they couldn't make it, Curby would found good replacement. I'm so fucking disappointed! But still, I like Exhumed musically and I won't throw their Cd's! I think It's my last post on Exhumed's forum. bye

We'll miss ya! Being tired or whatever their case isn't a lack of respect. I certainly hope that everyone who's mad at them makes certain that for the rest of their life they carry out every single one of their obligations to everyone no matter what; whether you're sick/exhausted/don't feel like it/something else comes up/etc.

Had they known they couldn't make it I'm sure they would have cancelled months ago. It's like taking too much food on your plate and not being able to eat every bite of it. Obviously they were planning on it. Exhumed gives their fans way more than most bands do; whether it's time or energy.

The truth of the whole matter is that there's more to it than is really anyone's business besides Matt Harvey and the promotors. Not just because we had done 125 shows (not 105, like the e-mail says--the tour started February 5th). Believe me, Exhumed could have easily done 2 more shows, if it was at all possible. But Danny, the fill-in drummer, could not go because he has to go back to work, same with Mike. Unfortunately, playing in a death metal band does not pay the bills.

I do not know what happened between Matt and Curby or why Curby was not notified sooner that Exhumed would not be playing, so I'm not going to speculate on that. It's shitty and it sucks, but there was no other way things could have happened. I was looking forward to playing in CZ, some of the best shows of my entire life were there, so you can imagine that it's frustrating for all parties involved.

Also, just so everyone is clear, neither me nor Danny (nor John Longstreth, for that matter) are a part of Exhumed anymore. We were all just helping out and now that the touring is over, they are looking for a permanent drummer and bassist. You can get ahold of Matt at matt@exhumed.us or goreified@hotmail.com.

Wouldn't it be funny if I applied for the job?! I joked w/ Matt about it. How un-gore metal-ish would that be?

Haha, I wish. Exhumed stuff on bass is about as simple as it gets!

Yeah, that's what he said. If I didn't have Epicurean I'd be all over it. You're a tough one to replace though!

Yeah true, but watching you play it was awesome! I copied a few things after playing with you guys. It probably looks cooler when you do it but I watched the video and I did look pretty cool too.

Like what? The only thing I did that was outta the ordinary from the original material was throw in some pentatonic or melodic minor runs.

Or are you talking about headbanging and stuff? Haha. The goal there was to be going as nuts as possible for as long as possible ;)

I mean the headbanging and stuff. Don't know how you do it night after night; my neck was always sore as fuck. Guess it's something you get used to.

I love how you all hold your guitars up; I can only pull that off when playing an open D. My Tom Araya bass is heavy as hell too.

Well Leon, I really appreciate your attitude towards this subject (and the band). In my opinion things like this would not happen if Matt was a frontal and honest guy like you.
Itīs really fucked up thing for Curby and for the people who would go to the fest and see Exhumed. But life goes on...
Cheers

(just hope Exhumed not start behaving like big death-metal "stars", i.e., Deicide...they probably could learn much from Suffocation, concerning how they deal with the bandīs relative success.)

I don't think Matt did it intentionally, we were on tour at the time he found out that it wasn't happening. And in a lot of ways, it's not his fault (the new news posted on the site is accurate--they do not currently have a stable line-up), but it was a bad situation for all parties. The fest still had a killer line-up, and I hope that people weren't too upset after seeing so much awesome grind.

Haha, as for the Deicide comment, they are still miles beyond Exhumed in terms of success.

You guys are being bitches about not being able to see a band. Get over it. They'll be there next year.

i dont get how exhumed is not being "obscene enough" just cause they aint playing a show. obscene stage acts are for bands that have shitty music and have to do crazy shit to bring poeple back

The "Obscene" they are referring to is the "Obscene Extreme Festival" in Trutnov, Czech Republic that Exhumed cancelled on playing.
