View Full Version : Wat are the expectations for the new Album?

The new record is going to be different than "Perceptive Deception"!
Of course, certain elements are still there, but other elements like harmonic guitars and more diverse vocals have changed in our music!
Tell us, what kind of elements are typical for the Disavowed style and what are your expectations for the new record?

Ok, my friend, here we go.
-I would love to hear a lot of frog noises and cricket sounds. Yes, I love those kind of vocals. But also screams. Try to add more variety in the vocals.
-I wouldn´t like to hear blasts all the time you know. It sounds cool and stuff, but to much will get boring, try to find a balance.
-Add some nude pictures of you guys, bonus disc perhaps :emot-LOL:
-Try to create a unique sound, I know it is hard, but at least give it a shot.
I have full confident that you will make a good album. Let us hear a new song as fast as possible,ok?
Take care!

Thanx for the reply, bro!!!
Frog noizes and cricket sounds will be added: lol
I am going to make sure, my vokills will sound more diverse than on "Perceptive Deception"! I am already doing more and more screams like I used to do in the past, also more recognizable parts etc.
Well, for a new song check this out: It's with Dirk from Despondency and it was recorded a couple of month's ago:

I heard the new song, it slays. I love the cricket vocals, 1:32-1:36, that kind of vocals are cool.
*Is the new song really called Robbie Williams? What about that, huh?

Robbe, i talked to you a while ago in Den Helder about the vocals on Perceptive.... I think that the vocal lines are very tipical for disavowed. I hope they still have the same groove on the new album. Can't wait for it to be released.
cheers

It's really good that you mentioned that! Because I tend to go into a different direction! Thanx!!!

Make more brutal songs like the tracks 1, 2, 4, 5 on perceptive and as much blasts! I´m sure the album will fucking slay! When will you record it?
Robbe K
06-23-2006, 10:18 AM
Cool! We start recording this september! Wassup!
Don't worry: It will be brutal with lots of blast!

Is the new song really called Robbie Williams? What about that, huh?
Ha Ha! Now, somebody shouted "Robbie Williams" in the crowd, so I used that as a song title! I am still working on the lyrics and song titles, so no definitive song title has been set yet for this song!
hmm... constructive criticism:
i think a distinct change for the better could be having individual songs with changing tempos - instead of pretty much all being the same pace right the way through-, which would be probably my only vague grumble at all with Disavowed's 'style'...
other than that, i'm all for whatever variety or spontaneity the band want to put into the mix. Every band has to evolve (unless you're Cannibal Snore-pse), so as long as you don't all of a sudden start making rock ballads and wearing gratuitous amounts of leopard-skin a la Steve Tyler, a change can do some good.

Tempo changes, should it be very abrupt or more smoothly? Too abrupt can be cool, but if you do it too much, it is getting hard to catch on.

mmmm I am think about maybe wearing a Afro wig on stage....
Yes, we have more diverse songs now, not all the time: start - tatatatatata - stop and not the same tempo with every song....

Consider the afro wig, I would love it (serious, no joke this time)
It´s good that you are working on the tempo thing, a lot of bands don´t seem to get it. Too slow or too fast with hardly changes into the tempo.
De juiste verhoudingen tussen de tempos dus.

-Crazy vocals like in the 1st cd and whatnot
-Crazy breakdowns like in "Unfolding Disposition"
-Crazy drums, haha i dunno, anything really I mean your Disavowed!!!@$t

what about some massive triangle attack!? I would love to hear some nightwish styled vocals. that would be totally awesome! What do you guys think of some image or something like "we are cowboys" or "we are eskimos" or "we are cats" :emot-want you could get more famous than the backstreet boys and metallica together! I would also love some gogo girls on stage!

Well I was thinking something like this:
1) The album will actually come out this year. Hahaha
2) As mentioned before: more diverse drumming.
3) Also as mentioned before: A little more diverse vocals.
And Robbe, since you were a guest on the new Spawn of Possession, you could have guest vox on the new one. Be it from Bill from Decrepit, Dusty from Severed Savior, or maybe even Chalky. That would be awesome.

the duo should be something special I think, so bill is out. Chalky would be a cool idea because he is a really special vocalist.
I´m sure it will be cool because you are a talented and more or less fresh band. Normally a band gets better from release to release, if they are not burned out or something, and it will be the same thing with your new release I think. So I expect great music! Not more not less!

I want a "Perceptive Deception" pt deux, but after having read Robbe's initial post, I guess that won't happen. I'm tired of brilliant bands trying to tread new grounds and failing miserably - Severe Torture went from ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT ("Misanthropic Carnage") to SHIT ("Fall Of The Despised"). Stop incorporating melodic elements plz ;)
minor point: how the hell was Misanthropic Carnage even remotely "ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT"?... That baffles me.
*ahem*
99.9% of bands are liable to evolve, whether people are open-minded enough to move along with them or not. The collective of musicians make the music that they feel is best most of the time.
And in this context, I'd much rather Disavowed diversified a little and gained more fans than just do what quite frankly the inevitably mediocre substandard bands do and just bring out the same album time and time again only in different packaging.
So long as it's still something that can be classified easily as "death metal" and is something that each one of the band believes in 100%, I don't see the point of anyone arguing.
And Robbe, since you were a guest on the new Spawn of Possession, you could have guest vox on the new one. Be it from Bill from Decrepit, Dusty from Severed Savior, or maybe even Chalky. That would be awesome.
if it was something in that context, personally I'd hope for Niels of Prostitute Disfigurement returning the favour after Mr Cock guest vox-ed on 'Left In Grisly Fashion'. But then i'm a substantial Prostitute Disfigurement fan so that's maybe my bias.
Anyway, glad you got what i meant with the tempo thing. I'm not talking sudden rapid head-on collisions going from funeral to ear-bleeding then back again... i just mean... gah...
I just think it'd be the element to take Disavowed to the next level, as they have the song-writing ability, they can give the fast bits and the groove, just when each song is more or less the same tempo all the way through it loses a fair bit of that initial impact...

Thanx for all the replies!!! Fucking awesome!!!
Don't worry: Disavowed will still be Disavowed! It will be more diverse and technical and still it will be hypnotic and more aggressive! This is my personal opinion o nthe demo's we have recorded so far. I cannot wait to do the final recording after such a lon period of silence (more than 5 years for a record)
We all are really happy with the fact we are playing shows again as well...aaaargggg

I'm glad you said you're going to try more diverse styles... I love your first album; it's definitely some of the better of that style of brutal death around, but the vocals sometimes started to grate at the end because of the monotony and the strange, low-fi speaker fuzz-like soundjob on them.

That's interesting...to be honest I quite like Disavowed's style as it is, I find each track on Perceptive Deception quite individual and memorable, which, considering how honestly monotonous the pacing and drumming sounds prima facie, is quite an achievement. I reckon they're up there with Pyaemia on that level. Yes, change is good... but I personally wouldn't want to hear Disavowed's style being closer to Severed Savior (with more leads and harmonised guitars) as opposed to the debut. It sounds like Decrepit Birth are diversifying as well, but whereas Decrepit Birth arguably needed to mix-up something, I don't think Disavowed would've lost-out for doing Perceptive Deception 2, more or less.
other than that, i'm all for whatever variety or spontaneity the band want to put into the mix. Every band has to evolve (unless you're Cannibal Snore-pse)
Meh, you couldn't have been following their career too closely then dude. I think there are a hell of a lot of other DM bands more guilty of releasing the same album over and over.

Technicality
Some solo's, there were no solo's on Perceptive, not that it matters much, but it would be cool.
Brutality
Some variety in vocals, don't get me wrong, your vocals kick butt, but i'm just saying that if there'd be guttural vocals through out the CD, it'd get quite boring, but I still love guttural vocals.
Good sound and mixing
but mainly, i can't wait to hear the product, it's been way too long. :emot-danc

I'm sure the new album is gonne kick some major ass!!!
As long as it contains the typical twisted guitar riffs, insane drumming, some catchy/groovy parts and Robbe's great vocal lines.
No guitar solo's for me, they useally bore me to death. Especially those predictable shred solo's.
Can't wait to hear that fucker.
Btw, wich label is gonne release it?
