Recently at the cinema there was this awesome commercial by Tourism Australia (see here (http://www.wherethebloodyhellareyou.com))! I think it's beautiful!
Having seen that I nearly would have fled the cinema, flagged down the next cab, hurried to the airport and taken the very next flight to Australia! Fuck the job, fuck the debts, ... I just wanted to go there at last! But in the end I wiped away my tears and kept my seat being the bourgeois I am ...
So what do you Aussies think about the commercial? Do you feel your country portrayed accurately by it?
I know it's full of clichés but they directly affect the emotions, don't they?
By the way,it's been banned in the UK (because of the use of "bloody") and in Canada (because an unbranded beer is shown ...)!
Anyway, there already also is a spoof (see here (http://www.downwindmedia.com/wtfru.html) - What does the first guy say?) of this commercial. I think it's just as funny (but also sadly true ...) and fitting as the original. What do you think about this spoof?

Only time I have seen it was when it was on the news here that it was banned in England, they don't bother preaching to the converted. Yes advertisers are clever, pretty easy to promote really!

Thanx a lot for taking the time to get back to me on this off-topic stuff!

I see. So what did you think about it?
And did you check out the ironic spoof, as well?

they don't bother preaching to the converted.
:D

Yes advertisers are clever, pretty easy to promote really!
The stuff that's so good it actually doesn't need any advertising usually has the best campaigns. Maybe that's because the advertisers don't have to lie for once?!

It is full of cliches, and cringe-worthy ones. But it would draw you in - especially if you saw it in a European winter!
It's shameful to admit but I haven't done/seen stacks of things shown in the ad, so maybe I should take it as a bit of motivation and go exploring. One day....

I liked the spoof :) Much more true :p

I think Roy ;) could have translated the first line for you, but here it is:

"We've packed you a cone"

Hey, actually summer has just begun here and still the commercial was very effective!

There you go, city girl! :)

I liked the spoof :) Much more true :p
I thought so ... :(
