Hammerfall are playing at the Islington Academy on March 1st next year. Apparently Tiamat and Novembre are playing the Electric Ballroom with someone else I can't remember (69 Eyes, maybe?) on the 2nd March, also next year.

The end of this year seems to be going down in style! Shit loads of gigs happening in Nov & Dec. Scene is thriving!!!

You mean apart from Unleashed / Krisiun cancelling to play Madrid instead? Immolation not playing the U.K last time they were in Europe and the same with Malevolent Creation. Deicide conveniently messing the U.K around, while playing elsewhere in Europe. Maybe there are a few other examples, but yeah, I'll grant you, London has it sweet, which just leaves the rest of the UK pissed off.

Perhaps you weren't about in the 1995-1999 era when a "European Tour" meant "Continental Europe Tour" tour about 9 times out of 10...

Sure, there will be the odd bands/tours that skip the UK (or only do London), but there has been a true explosion of shows in this country. There is no debating that.

I've been going to punk gigs since 1982 and metal gigs since 1984, I mix and match a bit. If I remember rightly, around then (95-99), a band touring and bothering to do U.K dates would do just London and Bradford. In 1998 there was Deicide supported by Six Feet Under / Brutal Truth / Amon Amarth + Naglfar, what chance of that now? There's no doubting that the metal scene is busier than it's ever been at the moment.
