it's more a pun on the well-known slogan on the entrance to Auschwitz 'arbeit macht frei', making it into a meat-related slogan instead ;)

Plus just to be argumentative, work could easily make meat if for example you worked on a farm, in an abattoir, a meat product factory... all kinds of different jobs :P

well i wasn't exactly trying to write anything along the lines of a Pullitzer Prize winner... and the only two other German words I could think of beginning with f aside from 'frau'/'fraulein' was 'fliesch' which went with the whole slogans that the "Fanimal" thing chants.

Carcass have a song called "Arbeit Macht Fleisch" on their Heartwork album. So this slogan ain't nothin' new.

"Fliesch" doesn't mean anything in German.
