Gabriel McCaughry - Play Dead and I'll Play Along
Ion D

I was sitting alone again, (in a remote corner lit only by the frail dance of dying candles) drinking, of course, when Perdition the Elder sat down.
He had that wierd smile upon his face and that fiery look he has when he's about to initiate a somewhat unusual conversation:

"I am but a Plauge..." he began to say, "I have studied Locustism for years now. I am like you, you know? Human, a useless vermin..."

He had a point, but still, I felt like I had to reply something... anything, but he cut me right off:

"...A slight change of posture, a loud muted noise from Above and then came an Ego that was to be our own downfall..." he paused and stared at me for a moment.

That's when he suddenly pulled this huge magnum from his jacket and forced the wretched thing into my mouth, saying:

"I am giving you a choice: Kill yourself or someone you love... The cold sensation of your clenched teeth around a gun barrel and the warm salty taste of your own tears... that's my give to you."
"Play dead and I'll play along son..."

I've always liked these lyrics.

<3 Agalloch. Gimme some of that Portland Opeth \m/.

Oh, and it's just my belief, but I do not think a band should be judged on lyrics. I know people listen to music for very different reasons but really if I appreciate the music then I will appreciate the band. Just my opinion.

i really do enjoy tommys lyrics on the silent circus. not so much on alaska. but w/e.
my PERSONAL fav. in MY OPINION is jake bannon from converge.
"You Fail Me"
you fail me with every fatal crush
you fail me with every abandoned love
you fail me with your inferno fuck me eyes
that burn as fuel for my city and its neon lights
burn bright white line fever take them all
you fail me with your new dead end dream
you fail me with your pill box fantasy
you fail me as love’s greatest war
that was never worth
you were never worth fighting for
dying living dying living dying everyday
living dying living dying living everyday
you think you are a poet
in your eyes you are a star
who lives through a fantasy of rising above
you think you’re a victim
but you live as a drunk
that has never sacrificed that has never loved
you think you are tragic but i know you are lost
you have walked the fault lines
and you have crossed them all
this world doesn’t fight you you fight yourself
thinking we fail you you fail yourself

Yeah, I think anything by Jacob of Converge or Gabriel of ID is fantastic. I seriously hold them as high as Dylan or Waters.

Bob Dylans lyrics still seem inovative to me. But are we sticking to metal etc.

No one put Matt Chalk yet!

"We are all brothers in metal, we already rule the world now!"

As much as I love Chalky's lyrics, Peppiat's are better.
Psycroptic makes me feel funny.
