Also would like some tabs for Hating Life !!

How do you achieve that crushing guitar tone ?? What equipment and effects/ tunings do you use ?

I'm sorry but there are no guitar tabs written to any of the albums.
I could probably work on some but at the moment there is just
too much other stuff going on. Thanx for the idea though.

The guitar equipment is listed on the personal members info on the homepage
but I'll put them here also for you.

Various Jackson guitars tuned to B. All with EMG -81 and -85 pickups.
Marshall Jcm2000 DSL heads with 4x12 cabs.
Various Boss and Ibanez pedals but none used for the rhytm sound.

Hi Ola!

Greetings from Finland. I've been a fan since ...You'll Never See was released.

I was wondering, could you tell what kind of equipment you used back in the old days, say like Into the Grave, You'll Never See and Soulless -era. Surely the DSL Marshall wasn't available back then? Those albums sound crushing!

Back in the days of the Sunlight recordings we mainly used a 50 watt Marshall combo.
We also used the Boss DS1 distortion pedals as overdrives for leads.
Other than that mostly the same stuff, various Jacksons tuned to B.

On the recent tour, you used a Boss Noise suppressor pedal and some kind of multi-fx from Digitech, as far as I could see. What was the Digitech and for what did you use it? Only for the leads?

p.s.: I'm sorry your Marshall fucked up during the Hannover-gig in November during "Rise"; I play guitar as well and now it's fucking annoying; sadly, there were some guys in the crowd started blaming you because of your reaction, one trying to throw a beer can after you - some other guys and I could handle the guy; do you know what was going on there with the amp?

You are right about the Boss Noise suppressor but the multi fx is actually an old '80s Ibanez multipedal.
It has the original Ibanez Tube screamer, Chorus and Compressor in one unit which can be used in any combination. Great for pushing leads through and also for making a bunch of crazy noise hehe. Yeah that was a fucked up night equipment wise but a great show over all. Whenever stuff like that happens it just pisses me off and sometimes I go out of hand. All the power just went out on stage right side and killed both the bass amp and my DSL. My excuses to anyone there who took it in a bad way. Thanx for handling the asshole throwing cans...

Thanx for the fast reply, Ola! An old Ibanez multi-fx? I can hardly recall they build some, hehe... the original Tube Screamer is quite good, and the other effects all you need for metal-leads; can you say which model number the multipedal has? Would be cool. My main equipment is an ESP Horizon NTII played over Engl-Amps, but I also still have an original Jackson KingV that needs to be shredded playing some old Grave-stuff - so I thought to myself: why not asking for some equipment details ;).
Btw: a friend of mine showed up at the same gig in Hannover without knowing any of your songs, and now he's always asking me to give him some Grave-stuff. I think you have convinced him with your show anyway.
Thanks for any answers and keep it up!

Hi Ola

I've been a huge Grave fan since You'll Never See and even opened for you back in 96 during the American leg of Hating Life tour in South Carolina (Rockafellas) with my old band Wretch. Keep putting out great albums. I proudly display a Grave link banner on my site!

Ola, can you tell me about the origins of your tattoos, especially on your chest? Thanks!
