What sucks to you can be amazing to others. Why do you need an explanation?

also a good point.

though i think Whee was probably just referring to how seemingly worshipped and holy revered Devourment are when in all honesty they're not particularly anything remotely amazing or interesting.

one man's insanity is another's genius i guess.

I reckon they're the next Suffocation... in the way that so many bands worship and copy them.

not necassarily a good thing though.

Shitloads of bands copy In Flames, doesn't automatically make In Flames awesome.

Precisely, trends aren't going to help death metal, it's going to destroy it. Look at the early 90's for instance.

Not saying it's a good thing that they're copied. The fact is a lot of people like Devourment.
It's quite hard to explain why I personally like them. It's not so much related to technicality, It's more to do with the atmosphere they create with their overall sound... like when a song really sets something off inside you. It's something that's lacking in a lot of death metal.

If you want a right laugh (not in a good way.....) go watch the dvd. Never seen such a crock of shite. The live footage sucks-hardly anyone at the gigs, and playing meat and potato Death Metal. The "extras" consist of a pointless excersise where the band and a load of friends watch a scat movie. Fair enough it was good to see the reactions, but not for fucking hours. They don't even show you what it is they are watching. So, chuffed with the video, the rest of it consists of footage of random people's reactions when exposed to the scat footage. That and two kids spewing on each other.

Absolute shite.

Yeah the DVD is pretty pointless.

I remember when death metal was about KILLER fucking riffs and pounding insanity that made you want to go crazy and disembowel people with pencils.... now it's about tough guy bro-core images so fat kids can punch air at shows.... R.I.P Death Metal.

I hate the 'tough guy' people and the air punchers and all that shit. I just enjoy Devourment's music, along with a lot of Death metal... old and new. In my opinion it's good that there's different outlooks on the style because it keeps it interesting and exciting.

atmosphere?

Molesting The Decapitated is easily the worst production sound on a death metal album I've ever heard... the snares are practically louder than the vocals (verging on ear-drum popping); there's less clarity to the guitars than you'd find on the first demo by some half-arsed band that've only been playing for a few months; and it really doesn't help that the music is just plain boring.

I can tell what kind of thing they're aiming for as there's a shitload of other (predominantly American) bands doing the same thing, just far better in my opinion.

Atmosphere was probably a bad choice of word. It just captures a certain mood for me, a very destructive one.
I'm not one to say that anyone's wrong for not liking them. I'm just attempting to show the reason they appeal to me - which is the topic of the thread.

I was at a Rugby game lately in Manchester, in the crowd were singing in choir: 'Saillll, saillll Sharksssss, you neverrrrr rot alone'! I was very emotional, really.

But Jolly bruv, I have no idea yet what I'm up to this Saturday. Who knows, I'm the master lately when it comes too NOT showing up at the right parties :weird:

Concerning Caedere, we're now preparing for a studio visit in June, and record a sort of 3-track demo with new shit. Right now there are almost 7 new tunes finished, and 1 more too go before we'll enter the studio for our second full-length! When the demo is finished, I will fixxx one song @ Caedere's Gayspace site aye!

why the hell would you want to inflict a place like Manchester on such a resound young Dutchman like yourself?

still, it could be worse... you could have gone to Bradford.

Dunno shit about football, mate.

But if you say so...
The Liverpool FC anthem since pretty much the 1960's has been held to be the song "You'll Never Walk Alone".

even people that don't know shit about football in this country know that about LFC :P

ontopic, they've just signed to Brutal Bands.
The most torturous band to ever come out of Texas joins forces with Brutal Bands with a two album contract! We are extremely excited to welcome them into our family of sickness. We know that the addition of Devourment to our already stellar roster will bring Brutal Bands to a new heightened level in 2006. And from talking to Mike Majewski (vocals), everyone in the band seems to be very excited about this deal as well. More news will be announced shortly regarding their upcoming release due out later this year, along with new merch, and of course some Devourment package deals!
