Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of recording my bands EP- we have no drummer capable of playing the drum parts at the moment, so I'm programming the drums myself.
I have all of the tracks written in midi, but of course I don't want midi drums on the EP- so i've been looking into using the midi files to trigger drum samples ive collected, which I just can't find a solution for. I've tried the programs drumagog and methods in Sonar, but neither has worked properly.
Anybody got any idea as to what I should do, or other methods of programming drums that doesn't require hardware?
Thanks in advance....
try and download drumkitfromhell and a sequencing program called battery..or you could download a program called acoustica beatcraft which has a sequencer in it..good luck ;)

Shit theres got to be a way to feed the MIDI into the sequencer and have it mapped out automatically. You need Battery. Get away from outboard machines.

Use Reason, with Drumkit From Hell samples if you can get them

Yeah, import your MIDI into a program called Reason, and assign the already-written MIDI drums to an NN19 sampler (using the actual drum-sequencer won't work, it's a long story but trust me). You need to split key zones for your drum samples, then when you have established which key is which drum in the sequencer, all you need to do is import Drumkit From Hell sounds into each little keyzone. Et voila, you should hopefully have a fully-functioning MIDI drum-track, with your required sounds to boot.

use EZDrummer with the DKFH expansion in Cubase... I just started doing this and it's simple as fuck.

At the moment Reason gets the job done for me.
But I'll be moving onto a Mac based recording system soon, so I'll probably use something that works within Logic or Protools.

if your going to get a Mac then I would recommend DKFH Superior
