...but I'm not going to tell you what they played because I want you to be as surprised and excited as I was...BWAHAHAHA!
I caught the show in Lorain, Ohio last Saturday because I couldn't hit up the one in Detroit, Mi on Sunday. It all still seems kind of like a dream. It was a very, very small venue, which to me made it extra cool. The place was packed wall to wall with fans. The crowd wasn't very roudy, but I guess that doesn't surprise me at all. When you attend a show that has music played like this it's not usually to go in there and mosh and get roudy as hell, it's to watch the people actually play what they're playing and just soak it all in.
Arsis slayed!! It was more then I imagined it would be. Once upon a time I thought I would never get the opportunity to see this music played live on a stage just four feet in front of me. And there I was standing, hearing it...fucking brilliant!!! Arsis have massive energy, power, and intensity. And they have themselves some bad ass guys touring with them on guitar and bass. They palyed an awesome set, although ofcourse it was too short, I could have listened to them for hours up there (although I don't think the venue would have been happy with that). The guitar and bass could have been turned down a tad bit, they were a little overpowering the second guitar, drums and vocals. It wasn't devastatingly overpowering though, just noticeable. Thanks a ton guys for the bad ass set and for playing your asses off for us. You sure give it everything you have in you to give.
Neuraxis got held up at Customs so they weren't there, which really sucks because I was really looking forward to seeing them live.
Alarum played tight as hell, their bass player/vocalist definately has some mad skills. Seeing this stuff played live had more of an impact on me then it did hearing it on cd. It just felt more alive, had more life. But that can be said about all the bands that played.
And Necrophagist, DAMN. And to think I had wonders about this type of stuff being played live, wondering if the band could pull it off. They're all awesome musicians, and they were simply amazing. Every single note, every single rythm, melody, harmonic, every thing was held right in order. And again, watching this guy play bass was just killer. It musthave been hard to find a bass plyer that could sound good playing this stuff, actually adding his own part to the music. I'm still at awe. Seeing this sort of music played as tight as it was played was definately a mind blowing experience for me.
GO SEE THIS TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my thoughts.
