hihat in the snare track

what's the best way to eliminate that as much as possible?

make sure your using a cardiod mic (sm57 or something similar) on the snare and be sure to have the butt end of the mic pointing straight at the hats, ( have the hats directly behind the mic)

what about when it's already in the mix?


(i had to track the drums quick at my friend's house.. so i didn't have a lot of time for checking each track)

Sample the snare. Thats the solution. Then use a L2 limiter on the overheads to get more drums in the mix from those mics. If you sample well and have a nice drum mix in the OHs you should get a good sound.
