Greetings from Sydney Australia.

I was watching the King Crimson - Eyes Wide Open DVD in 5.1 the other day and it gave rise to the thought of albums being produced in 5.1 surround.
Dimmu Borgir tried successfully on their lacklustre Deathcult Armaggedon album with a DVD-audio release. Even though the album isnt that fantastic, the added dimension of 5.1 surround sound gave it (at least for me) a fresh sound.

So I was wondering Mr. Tchort...

1. Light of Day, Day of Darkness 2/3 in 5.1 or any other Green Carnation release in 5.1.?
2. Re-issue of LODDOD in 5.1?
3. Is the cost and/or difficulty of producing an album in 5.1 the main issue in not experimenting in 5.1 surround sound?

And for everyone else...

1. Which albums would you like see to appear in 5.1 format?
Mine would be;- Green Carnation - LODDOD
Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors, La Masquerade
Infernale and future releases.
Next Tool album
Radiohead - Kid A and Amnesiac
Next Ulver album, as well as Perdition City
and probably more that i cant think of right now...
2. Are there any DVD-A's that you people recommend that i check out?

Yes, I am an audiophile

No, there are no plans for making either album in 5.1 as of today. I dont think the studio we are planning to use for part II and III, even have the possibility to mix in a 5.1 format. That is also the main reason why we havent done it so far or will in the nearest future - the studios we use or will be using, dont have this oportunity. Not yet, anyways.

However, the DVD that is released this week/the next week, is mixed in 5.1 so at least you will get an hour of Green Carnation music in 5.1.

Its also possible that the LODDOD live version will be released in the 5.1 format, but in any case, sometime in the future, i am sure there will be a complete DVD holding the live recording of all three LOD DOD albums, when completed, and that will be in 5.1 as well as 2.0 i am most certain of.

But again, it wont be for some years yet. But i can understand the desire to hear an album like LODDOD in 5.1 with all its effects and instruments. Would be massive i think.
