I've heard a little bit from them, what do you classify them as? (as in what type of DM).

I'd say they're just Death Metal. These guys have been around for what, almost twenty years, and they're still releasing good albums. De Profunis is my favorite though.

I think Piotr has never really regarded them as a straight "death metal" band as from what I recall reading he founded them as primarily a thrash-type band as that's what had the greater infiltration into Poland in the 80s around the time Vader formed.

Personally, I'm not too fond of the earlier stuff, more particularly 'Litany' and 'Revelations'.

True they can practically shit riffs better than thousands of bands out there, but 'The Beast' doesn't do a great deal for me.... handful of decent songs, just kind of lacks the brutality of the previous two.

Yeah, I only like tracks 3, 5, 7, and 10 off of The Beast.

I think Vader was great although a lot of their stuff can sound very similar sometimes. Ultimate Incantation and De Profundis are excellent releases.

Yeah, The Beast was a little lacking here & there, but in all fairness it was Daray's first recording with the band, and they were probably all trying to get the vibe for writing together. I think they've more than made up for it with their new EP though... that shit is slamming!!!

Death Metal (with heavy thrash influence if you want to get technical)

I would classify Vader as "classic death metal" which is death metal influenced by thrash metal bands like Slayer (unfortunately too often) and Sepultura (unfortunately not too often). Most old-school bands like Vader, Morbid Angel, Deicide..are bands that i call "classical death metal" bands. The type of stuff that's reliable, pretty fast and solid but not over-the-top or experimental and not too "groovy". Vader is heavily influenced by the old-school Slayer style and of course by Morbid Angel.

The new cd is ok. Nothing new to the death genre. Typical death metal. What are your top Death metal releases for 2006 so far?

Where most of Vader's albums are death metal with a heavy thrash influence, I found "The Beast" to be almost a thrash album with a death influence. Hardly any blasting on that album, it was much more midpaced. I enjoy it, although not as much as some other albums. I can say that I like everything Vader has done, but looking at their catalogue as a whole it is a bit bland. They haven't really pushed their formula at all. "The Art of War" really is a good EP. Looking at it optimistically, you can say that Vader is a band who have a specific sound that they are going for, have all but perfected it, and can churn out great material in that style like a well-oiled machine from years of playing. Or you can look at it pessimistically and say that Vader knows how to play one very narrow style of music, and has no new ideas.

I'll probably buy their new album when it comes out, I have always had a soft spot for Vader because they were one of the first DM bands I got into. However, I do expect it to be disappointing after "The Art of War". I feel like Vader is a band that can make good EPs, but I'm afraid that the amount of ideas they have becomes stretched thin over an entire album. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, because TAOW was Vader at their most convincing and aggressive.

Vader is great. I don't give a fuck what some people think. Vader is a great fucking classic band. One of the oldest and best Death Metal bands around. Back in the day when they released "The Ultimate Incantation" that was one of the fastest and most brutal pieces ever written. Vader stands for solid musicianship and professional killer live shows.

But.... Doc was much too important in their sound. They're not real Vader without Doc. I know it sounds harsh but that's how i feel. I will always want to check them out live and i will always respect this kick ass band. They took the influence of Slayer and Morbid Angel early stuff and perfected it into masterpieces like "The Ultimate Incantation", "Black To Blind" and the one and only, the almighty "Litany" and many other great cd's. Let's not forget Vader are the creators IMO of the infamous Polish Death metal scene (which some posers try to discard but fail miserably) that brought so many cool bands. Vader have written countless amazing memorable Metal songs like "Carnal", "The Final Massacre", "Wings", "Dark Age", "Blood of Kingu" and so many more. Doc was a drummer like no other. Coming from an ex-communist country with no solid rock & metal tradition he was capable of outstanding performances and could easily outshine most drummers from Florida, the fucking Bay Area or all over the world. He was the demon behind Vader's intense catchy assault. Vader also proved they could experiment when they wanted to, with the bone chilling Mayhem tribute song "Freezing Moon" which is probably my favourite black metal song ever (yes fucker the VADER VERSION!!). All in all Real Metal fans.....show some fucking Respect. Hail Vader! Hail Doc (I love you and i miss you)! Hail Vader!!
