Well getting signed to this label would mean first of all playing music that we're looking for, such as brutal death, death metal, black death, death grind, grindcore, etc. You would need to show an ability to produce something with a decent production, not perfect, but decent. An eye for good artwork/artist is good too. The ability to play shows, fests, and possibly tour is also nice.
Getting signed in general, that's a tough one. First off I'd say keep writing songs until you truly believe that your material is as good as other bands out there that are getting signed. If you're not getting tons of compliments (from people that you don't know) at shows you're playing, then your band probably isn't signing material yet. Another thing that's helps is self promotion - have a web site, a myspace page, and anything else to get your name out there. Play shows!!! This helps get your name out there, and hand out free demos to people when you do play shows. Try to make the demos look as decent as possible - a good looking demo will get listened to by potential fans - a CDR with hand written text by a 3 year old kid with a sharpy may not get listened to. Also you need to play shows out of your hometown so that your band's name gets spread to other areas. And it's also good to get some shirts and sticker made, this helps promote too. Once you've done all this, spend a little money above and beyond what you spent on those demos and get yourself a decent recording through a studio that is known for recording extreme music. Make sure to record at least 3 songs. Yes, this might cost you more money than you're used to spending, but if want to get signed to a decent label, then you really should do this. Then get out on the internet and find as many labels out there as you can find and send them a copy of this good demo along with a bio sheet and any other selling points about your band. You should be able to find around 50 to 75 labels to send your good demo to. Don't just send it to the 10 most popular labels you know and that's it. Well, that's about all the advice I have on this - hope this helps and good luck.
