I will for sure be able to order 2 though.

Just make sure you get None So Vile, because it's a death metal classic and masterpiece.

Cryptopsy0507
03-10-2006, 10:57 PM
Alright, yeah man for sure ... that and maybe Whisper Supremacy or something ... hopefully i'll be able to get everything.

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-11-2006, 12:02 AM
Yeah, Whisper really is an excellent album. I mean shit, we're talking about Cryptopsy, it's not like they've released a shitty album. That's why it's hard to say that you'll get a certain amount of their cd's at one time and feel confident that you made the right choice. I had the same problem when I was trying to complete my Morbid Angel collection.

Cryptopsy0507

You could say that. I really dig the releases with Worm more though. I don't really like Di Salvo's style. They were still great albums, but those style of vocals don't appeal to me.

Cryptopsy0507
03-11-2006, 10:44 PM
Well I made a deal with my parents and I ordered these, please rate.
Cryptopsy:
Blasphemy Made Flesh
None So Vile
Whisper Supremacy
And Then You'll Beg
None So Live
Once Was Not

NO he isn't. You may not like him but he is very fucking good at what he does. His phrasing is phenominal.

Nice. None So Live is awesome. The dude that did the vocals for that, did an amazing job. He could do Worm's vox dead on, as well as Di Salvo's.

Which should I listen to first when I receive them?

Start with BMF and listen to them in the order they were released. Each is a progression in extreme music. IMO

emperadorXXIV

I'd stick in NSV first, then ATYB, WS, and then the others.

Di'Salve just farts all over the music. He sounds like a hardcore vocalist. His vocals just don't go with the music at all. Luckily though, after a few listens you can imagine his voice doesn't exist, and you can get on with apprechiating the fastest, most technical music on the planet. (and best!)

And to Cryptopsy0507, tell us what you think of Di'Salvo when you get a chance . Tell us what you think of 'Screams Go Unheard.'

Personally I reckon DiSalvo fits much better over the WS/ATYB material than LW could... not to mention the fact that at the time LW could never have pulled off the phrasing DiSalvo used.

emperadorXXIV
03-17-2006, 10:42 AM
It's pretty good, I listened to OWN last night and it's cool, kinda wished I had some Nile though.

I'd reccommend starting with Annihilation Of The Wicked. The title track is one of the best DM songs there is. Cast Down the Heretic is so good too. ANd the production is at the highest level.

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-17-2006, 12:17 PM
Yeah, Emperador is right about A.O.T.W. man, it's absolutely amazing. I'm glad they had Dallas sing a lot more on this one, because his vocals are very awesome and unique. In Their Darkened Shrines is a dandy too though. And Black Seeds as well. Hell, pretty much all of their releases slay! Looks like you have another discography to get bro haha!

Cryptopsy0507
03-17-2006, 11:17 PM

It's really hard to compare another band to them man. They're just so damn crazy. They're influenced a great deal by Deeds of Flesh. If you haven't checked them out, here's their links: www.deedsofflesh.net and www.myspace.com/deedsflesh and they also own/run Unique Leader Records. And check out Unmerciful at www.unmerciful.us and www.myspace.com/unmerciful

Is DB your favorite band?

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-17-2006, 11:34 PM
I'd say they're right up there, but they only have one release. Not that it really matters, but I like to listen to full discographies of bands sometimes, so I'd say ummm...this is really hard....either Deeds of Flesh, Suffocation, or Disgorge (US). There's so many bands that I like though, that I feel like I'm making the wrong decision no matter what. For the melodic stuff, I like Dark Tranquility and Old In Flames. Old In Flames is untouchable imo.

Cryptopsy0507
03-17-2006, 11:45 PM

InvoluntarySlaughter

InvoluntarySlaughter

If you listen to Exhumed, and then go straight into DB, you'll definitely be overtaken by DB's brutality. Exhumed has slower drums, and not as technical riffing. But they'd be a good transition band for say, Decapitated. Which would probably lead you to DB. I tried getting into DB without listening to a lot of other brutal ass bands, and I hated them at first. Then listening to Cryptopsy, Decapitated, Deeds of Flesh, stuff like that, it was an easier transition.

Edit: To Jordan 5

Jordan5
03-18-2006, 12:18 AM
Dude this is the same guy! :)

Also ... what are some good bands like DB that don't have that many albums and bands that have tons of albums that is their main influence?

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-18-2006, 12:25 AM
Haha, yeah, I was kind of thinking that. Well for the ones with tons of albums, it'd be Deeds, Suffocation, (early) Malevolent Creation, and that's really it. Matt also has said numerous times how much he likes black metal like Dark Funeral, Dissection, Dimmu Borgir, and the such.

For the newer bands without a lot of releases, it'd be Disavowed, Pyaemia, Deviant, Insidious Decrepancy, Origin, Unmerciful (which has ex-Origin members), Decapitated, and more. Here, I'll give you Unique Leader's website, so you can check those bands out. www.uniqueleader.com

Also, check out Caligorge, aka Disgorge (US). They have four albums out. Cranial Impalement, She Lay Gutted, Consume The Forsaken, and Parallels of Infinite Torture. All of which kick ass.

Jordan5
03-18-2006, 12:26 AM

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-18-2006, 12:28 AM
For sure. They're all cool dudes too. Matt, Mike, and KC are all on the DB board, and KC is on the Odious Mortem one since he's their drummer too. Oh, there's another one to check out. And Severed Savior too. Well, they're all on the U.L. website.

Jordan5
03-18-2006, 12:32 AM
Are all those band Brutal Death?

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-18-2006, 12:35 AM
Yeah. I'd label them as that. Wait do you mean, on the U.L. site? If so, there's a couple that aren't brutal death metal, but the vast majority of the label is.

Jordan5

Well then, yes, they're all brutal death metal. Actually, here's an even better site for anyone who's getting into the "brutal" scene: http://brutal.links.free.fr/ So many bands, many with rediculous names, but you'll enjoy a lot of them. Especially if you like Cryptopsy. :dj:

Yeah, it was cool. Didn't get to stay out long because we had about five thunderstorms yesterday. And that went into the night too, so we decided to just chill for a little bit. And then I was supposed to be going to the Backwards dance tonight, but the girl I was going to go with, has been on home studies for about three months, and went with her family out of state. So I'm pretty much the only one at home right now. Sucks fuckin' nuts!

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-18-2006, 11:30 PM
Well, in about thirty minutes, I'm going to my Portuguese grandparent's house. I'd say Avo and Avo, but I need the accent marks haha! And then coming home around ten or so. Then going 4x4'n with my buddy Dean. He's 30, and he's been doing it since he was 16, so he knows what he's doing. And that makes it fun. What are you doing, besides listening to sick death metal?

Jordan5
03-18-2006, 11:31 PM
Sick Death Metal, eh? Well I'm hoping to watch Saturday Night's Main Event at 8 ... should be pretty sweet. Man i'm listening to Nevermore right now ... fucking amazing stuff, do you like them?

Most of their releases are really good. Like the ones with Barnes as the singer. That's when they were "re-inventing" the scene. Then Corpsegrinder came, and I like Vile, and Bloodthirst is my favorite album from them. The last couple of albums are good, but all sound the same. And from what I've heard so far off of Kill, this is going to be a great release. Really groove-oriented, and that's a good thing.

Really? Oh, that's on right now isn't it? I don't really watch that show anymore. For a while all it was, was metalcore, and nu metal.

Jordan5

Haha I guess there most "real metal" oriented now. Maybe I should buy more Corpse stuff ...

InvoluntarySlaughter

Yep, you should.

Eaten Back To Life
Butchered At Birth
Tomb of the Mutilated

Vile
Bloodthirst
The Wretched Spawn are all good, and you might want to pick up Kill when it comes out.

Jordan5
03-18-2006, 11:51 PM
True, and I kinda even like Corpsegrinder more than Barnes in some ways, but love both, may have to just buy all their shit, haha.

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-19-2006, 12:00 AM
Well, some songs are just plain technical, some songs are both technical and groovy (Spine Splitter = my favorite CC song) and some have some slower tempos. Very varied album imo.

Jordan5
03-19-2006, 12:01 AM
Damn man, every album by any band you talk about makes me want to buy it. Oh well time to save some money and buy the rest of the CC releases.

InvoluntarySlaughter
03-19-2006, 12:05 AM
Haha, maybe you shouldn't listen to me then, lol. It'd save you some money that's for sure. I have about 110 actual death meteal cd's. And that's not a lot. I have like over 100 on the waiting list. But I like so many different kinds of music that I don't know how many I have. I used to download them because I wasn't old enough for a job, and my parents wouldn't let me buy them, but now since I have a job, I can do whatever the hell I want with my money.

Haha good stuff. What kinda stuff is on your waiting list?
