Never heard these guys before but the hype is pretty unbeleivable.Alot of the reviews say they make Atheist and Cynic sound like top 40 bands.Supposedly the fastest and most original bass ever recorded in ANY metal release ever.More technical and brutal than any predecessor.Anyone actually heard these guys?links to mp3s anything???

It could just be me, but I've been getting a bit cynical (no pun intended) about the many hypes and comparisons as of late. Though not for lack of trying, I have yet to find a band that excites me the way WatchTower, Death, Atheist, and Cynic have, with the notable exception of Necrophagist. A lot of stuff certainly is enjoyable, including Pavor, and also Augury or Zero Hour to some extent, but none of it seems to go beyond what's been done previously in creating a recognizable new, unique sound, while maintaining high standards in musicianship and composing/arranging. Is it me (I know it's a matter of taste to some extent), and am I alone in feeling like this, or are there others out there who feel more or less the same?

Pavor – An over-hyped, overrated death metal band whose talented but masturbatory bass playing often overshadows the band's poor songwriting skills, painfully generic and invariable vocal style, uninteresting drum beats, and guitar riffs that are only occasionally interesting.

Atheist they ain't.
