I just thought I'd share some thoughts about the show:

First band I think was called Hurtlocker, I "missed" them.

Second was Vesania, fuckin' terrible pseudo-epic Black Metal.

Third were Aborted. Some good moments but overall a bunch of crowdpleasers with a cockpleaser playing bass. They reminded me of a metalcore band at times. I had never heard them before and actually thought they might be any good.

Then came Dew-Scented which I was also not familiar with. Therefore we went outside and had a good smoke and some drinks.

Grave were co-headlining and they actually seemed like a pretty cool old school band.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, the mighty Cryptopsy:

SETLIST:
They played a bunch of OWN crap, highlights of which were Carrionshine and Endless Cemetary. They also played The Frantic pace of Dying... The other songs off OWN... I can't seem to remember.
They played four songs which weren't off OWN, these being:

Abigor
Graves of the Fathers
We Bleed
Phobophile

The set was too short and there was no drum solo. They left the audience unsatisfied after Phobophile. Since the crowd response on that evening was rather horrible, the shouting after the last song didn't last long enough to get the guys back out I guess. So me and my friends ended up being the last ones screaming in anger for an encore.

ALEX AUBURN:
Great fuckin' performance. Insane shredder. From what I could hear he played everyhting flawlessly, as far as the rhythm section goes. Unfortunately, he was standing left of me, which is why I couldn't hear that much of the soli. It sure as hell looked impressive, though.

THE OTHER GUITAR PLAYER WHOSE NAME I DON'T REMEMBER:
Good performance. He didn't do any soli, but played very tight. The only thing quite annoying about the guy was him not realizing that this wasn't a Black Metal show. So he kept on making pseudo-evil faces, which most of the time made him look like a complete retard.

ERIC LANGLOIS:
Insane guy. Totally relaxed, minimalistic technique. I was also very pleased by his stage acting. Great performance.

FLOTOPSY:
We all know he's an insane drummer, but the sloppyness of his performance always bothered me. This time he nailed it all quite impressively tight. He wasn't as upfront in the mix as on the album, that may also be why I couldn't make out major mistakes. You know, he always gets sloppy at the end of bars, because he can't keep up. Put some NSV or BMF in your CD player and you'll know what I mean.
His bragging pissed me off, though. During the soundcheck he came out and obviously thought he had to show the audience that he can also play polyrhythmic shit. At least that's the way it occured to me.

LORD WORM:
Horrible. He was almost not audible, which probably wasn't his fault. (I could also imagine he requests not being too loud in the mix so that no one would recognize what kind of a bad vocalist he is.) Furthermore, he totally ruined We Bleed by simply barking some random shit into the mic which had nothing to do with the original approach of the vocals. Also, his stageacting was ridiculously bad, I never imagined it to be as cliche-laden as it actually was. You know, "evil" faces and that stupid gesture with the hand...
One more thing: During one song off OWN, he pretended to do a ridiculously long high-pitched scream. Unfortunately, smart people like me realized that after a short time the scream was simply echoed, or faked in some other way and he just kept standing there with his mouth open pretending to scream. It was embarassing to watch.

CONCLUSION:
Overall, the show was quite a disappointment. It was OK for the money, but I simply expected more. Nevertheless, the band performed ultra tight and sounded quite great, Worm excluded.

just want to add that they kicked-off with white worms, so they played five songs beside the OWN stuff.
overall i agree with you

Yeah Lord Worm was not so audible but I liked his stage acting and the support bands were good. Hurtlocker and Vesania were ok , but Aborted, Dew Scented and Grave were great. 17€ for at least four great bands is value for money.

Most drummers go out at the end of the bar, it matters not. Trym is a classic example of this, it just adds more energy live i recon. If I wanted to hear it perfect then I would stand there listening to my cd player.

I liked the band too. But it was definetely too short and I would have been pleased by a better setlist, but I guess one can't really expect them not to play many OWN songs. The audience seemed to not be fond of them at all, though.

I don't understand how one can think this way. Not being able to play perfectly live simply displays you're not as good live as in the studio or means you've edited your recordings. To me, seeing bands live is all about experiencing a performance being as close as possible to the studio recording. There's a huge difference between that and listening to the CD, I think.

True, but I like the energy it gives off. It doesn't necisarily mean you have edited anything, it just means that your pumping tunes out at the top of your limits. Imperfection is relative to the situation. Jason Becker could play live, fuck shit up and people would be pissed off (and suprised, that guy hasn't picked up a guitar in years...heh) but Dying Fetus could lay the smack down, fuck up (not big style) and you wouldn't remeber it. All you would remeber is that they killed that night because they gave it all.

i wouldnt be too please either. i was lucky enough to see them pre - OWN with worm (only one of those tours i think) so they just did all of NSV and a few tracks from blasphemy

I definetely would remember. So do I remember Flo losing his stick during one song.

My god, that rules. Well, I'll catch Cryptopsy again at Party.San and hopefully the set will be better then... But I doubt it.

i think the concert was great:
hurtlocker was too much hardcore-style
vesania was very athmospheric but also pretty cool imo
aborted: i only like the old songs, the new ones are too much rock sometimes
dew-scented: thrash till death!! they kill me everytime but again i have to say that the older songs are better. it´s a pitty they played too much from issue VI
grave: good elements in music but not my style
cryptopsy: i was REALLY disappointed that with we bleed they played only one song from and the you´ll beg and NOTHING from whisper supremacy. you guys should play less from the new one!!! but they made a really good show
