right now it's coltrane, charlie parker, and magma... but tomorrow it could be the dixie dregs or joni mitchell. it sounds melodramatic, but there are no boundaries in music.

sleepytime is great... i esp. love that rob zombie style song on their first album haha
secret chiefs is kind of watered down for me... some of their middle-eastern motifs are cool, but if i want to hear the real thing, i'll listen to ravi shankar or shakti.

I sorta see what ya mean, but eh, I still <3 SC3.
What about Patton's stuff?

I like a lot of Mike Patton's material. Faith No More is probably my favourite band right now, aside from Kansas (yes, I'm serious). Sleepy Time Gorilla Museum I also really dig. The newer album is fantastic!
I'm still convinced Dillinger Escape Plan ripped off "Magnum Opus" by Kansas. I'm tellin' ya Josh. Those syncopated rhythms with sweet sweet melodies over them are way ahead of their time.

You can't get much more perfect in terms of a band list.

(lots of bands including...):
Watchtower
Coroner
Forbidden
Morbid Angel
Deathrow, Mekong Delta and Target are pretty amazing german bands along the lines of the above that get overlooked sometimes. Prokofievs's later piano sonatas sound like technical death metal in my opinion (aggressive percussive arpeggios, odd timing, unorthodox harmonies, but not as dissonant as Bartok).

This list is simply an overview of some of the bands we listen to and/or sound like. To list everything would be impossible and well just unnecassary. Like I said, we enjoy all kinds of genres whether it be jazz, bluegrass or doo wop. Our tastes are kind of like 7-11, they're never closed for anything or anyone.

You guys need to get Peeping Tom asap. Shit is so good. Patton sounds amazing on it.

You three should have a fist fight on May 30th to resolve this discussion. Fighting solves everything, right?
