R.E. Reamping
I read on James Murphy's website a while back that he was using this method to work with the guests for the forthcoming Death Tribute Album, but not entirely sure if I understand exactly what it is.
Some (if not all ) Guest Solos were recorded via Line6Pod, and then he spoke of this "Re-amping" procedure before the final tracks. I guess you mike your tube amps up and a gizmo like this http://www.radialeng.com/di-xamp.htm does the magic with the DI guitar sounds ???
Sounds like a totally awesome concept, anyone know anything about this reamping stuff at all?
Basically, any information from anyone who has tried it, how effective it is, would you consider doing it with rythym guitar tracks etc. would be appreciated.
Cheers.

It's great, you record guitar and hear the sound of the amp you're playing but only record the direct signal of the guitar, so after recording, you can send that signal to other amps and don't have to play it a second time, a friend of mine did this, he played a song of his band, recorded the direct signal of the guitar (but you heard his pod xt) and 1 month later, he got the money for his new amp, framus cobra, so he send the signal into the input of the framus, mic'd it up and recorded the sounds coming out of the framus, worked perfect, he does that all the time now, works great.

For more info about that look at Andy Sneap's forum at Ultimate Metal there are some guys doing the same thing.

@Colin, have you tried sending the signal in different amps to have like, 3 tracks of the same riff or song but for example through an 5150 and Triple Recto (I know you own these amps).
I think a mix in that way would be cool because you can try every option, different amp settings to get the ultimate sound.

I want a good recording setup, too!
