Sorry if this is a Stupid question... But what Tuning does Atheist use on their albums? Or is it different per song. I seen some tabs in E and some in D... And I am tabbing out And The Psychic Saw in D... Just wondering what the tuning is

E, for every song.

The power tabs I've got are all in standard tuning. And they sound/seem to be as accurate as you can be without cloning the band!! :)

Standard E tuning seems fine on the majority of songs.

Well I know how to play about 75% of Unquestionable Presence, and I can assure that thats played in E (bass). Also a few from Elements + Piece of time and they are in E too.
awesome! feel free to tab some heh

You can find most of the tabs at ultimateguitar...
but there are many incorrections too.
If I'd tab a few songs, would I do it with a program like Word?

why not use powertab?

well, for whatever reason you want to use text, I would use notepad (start, programs, accessories) because each character takes up the same amount of space. There's probably a font or setting in Word to let you do the same thing, but I don't bother to find it.

Powertab and Guitar pro are too complicated for me to use..
and it would take less time to just tab them in text format.

They aren`t really that complicated when you have learned the basics(which is easy, at least with powertab) and if you want to include rhytms and time signatures in your tabs it is in my opinion much easier and _faster_ with programs like powertab or guitar pro.

I think Atheist-tabs, being in text-, powertab or any kind of format should contain rhytms because notes-only tablatures of the first two albums can be downloaded from http://www.angelfire.com/band2/myriad/atheist.html and
crazy rhytms are at least for me the biggest stumbling block in learnining to play Atheist.

I have transcribed most of the riffs(guitar only) from `the formative years` in powertab-format but it`s really a very raw draft and needs polishing. Still it it may help someone interested in tabbing/learning the song and I can send it to
those who want it.

An accurate transcription of `Brains` would be bloody great! :beerchug:

man the only thing thats hard about the timing is memorizing it. if youve listened to enough atheist theres no reason you cant pull it off!

How do you view these files?

Hum. Well I can "pull off" weird rhytms(for example the formative years) if I have listened to them enough but transcribing them is usually much more difficult.

You need the old version of powertab to view those tabs and after that they can be converted into txt-files. Check that Myriad-page for info about that.

ah i see. yeah transcribing stuff like that would be insanely tough. i would just make a txt tab and put a bunch of 0000-0-0-0-0000 and say" you figure it out:P" thats really not that big of a deal if you just approximate it

why not use powertab?

Because it's a fucking idiot proprietary format, and by using it, you require others to use that shitty software and possibly pay for it. Fuck that.

ASCII 4 ever

Well then write it out in powertab, then export it to ascii...
