Hey guys hope you can help me out. I'm not meaning to shit-talk but I'm very confused!
I recently joine d the official Cannibal Corpse forum to get the lowdown, chat etc. I saw the "Ask the Cannibals" section and got overexcited... I dashed off three questions to Alex: I had a respectful tone as a fan and I don't think my questions were stupid. I guess I was "star struck" y'know "Wow, maybe I can have a little rap with Alex Webster who's simply awesome!"
I then get a note from admin that I was "abusing" the forum and now I'm blocked from that section! :emot-fail
Please tell me, what did I do wrong?! I didn't mean any disrespect or to hog the forum.. I'm honestly at a loss.
I don't mean to whine, I just want someone to tell me if there are some rules of message boards that I don't know about.
but I guess such things are a bonus which aren't essential: no one can revoke your love of metal, which counts for everything.
I have it really good here on the Cryptopsy board... kinetic rapping with nice dudes about love of extreme music, hats off to you all gents!
Fill me in guys!

Quite a simple answer: CC forum sucks nads. You also have to understand there would be plenty of stupid CC fans typing all sorts of shit there everyday, so they were probably suspicious about your post. My advice in the future would be to take a look in "rules" threads if they exist.

Hmm, thanks for the feedback. I'll know for next time.

Yea... they're pretty tight about that... I'm a mmeber there, have been fore several months... It's really just a bunch of close knit friends, one ofwhich is the admin, making it difficult for most folks to fit in and feel at home there... You could try sending the admin a pm in reply, just explaining, ya know. He's a reasonable guy.

Flu - hmm, I don't want to think of how precious Opeth fans can be! "My Arms, Your Hearse" is still their best IMO.
King - yeah man, I've seen you on that board. I can understand what you mean; everyone is new at some point, they probably thought I was some punk. It's not the same as sharing a beer and chatting with some other fan about metal that you dig face to face, so they can see your sincerity. I get this double, as my good longhair friends and goth mates always tease me about looking like a yuppie or a hardcore kid (mostly due to work: Short hair (cut it after university), sideburns, small rectangular spectacles, blue jeans , trainers... the Napalm Death or Cryptopsy t-shirt is the only visible giveaway that I'm a serious fan.
It sucks not to be given the benefit of the doubt just because you don't fit in with some narrow superficial criteria... how unmetal is that?!
Anyhoo, thanks for the consolement. I'm sure the admin guy is very reasonable, I just don't want him to think I'm some hard on harassing him. I think for the moment I'll just stick to reading what other dudes have to say. I would have liked to have some interaction with Alex Webster, he's a personal hero and very cool guy!
But yes: the Cryptopsy board and all it's crew are the Best! Huzzah!! :1pirate:

King thanks a ton for the advice. I sent the admin a pm apologising for any inconvenience and unintended pushiness; he responded that there were no worries and everything's cool, as shown by an emoticon wearing shades and dragging off a cigarette
... thank Crom it wasn't the double facial one, Heh!

Pointless questions? I've seen those on there, and I would have to say I wasn't guilty of that particular offence. I phrased my questions in a respectful, abuse-free way, asking about his opinion on Eric from Cryptopsy's playing, bass inspirations, his friends Severe Torture etc.
I found out that I had a few questions I would have posed to the great Alex Webster... I just made the mistake of making consecutive posts too soon, so it unintentionally looked that I was hogging the forum and I got blocked. :(
However I do understand you guys have a tough job keeping some of the shit-talkers on there under control; I sent an apology to the moderator with the a cool pic of Chuck (RIP) on his sig, saying I didn't intend any disrespect. He responded saying all is cool, so that's great. Pretty much all the info I need can be found on past threads, that's good reading!
BTW  + :beerchug: to all you guys for not deleting the questions: Alex actually responded a little while ago, so coolness all around.
Thanks for taking the time to explain exact forum conduct to me. (maybe things are bit more anarchic on the Cryptopsy one? HaHa!!) Keep up the good work.
Oh and of course buy "KILL" the moment it's out!
