I can't really get into it, I dunno, same with Sounds of Perseverance, they both have their moments but it seems like around that time Chuck had started to figure out music theory on his own since he never actually looked into it, but you can hear it, a lot of the melodies are so much more predictable and in key then they were around Human/ITP....

Sure it's not as tech as Human or Individual, but he started writing music that he was really into. More classic metal, early stuff. Maiden and Priest, that sort of thing. At least he got a different singer and named the band something different, to keep the two seperated. Chuck even said in interviews that the music he was writing was similar to Death, but didn't want to release anything under that name.

Music doesn't always have to be technical. Just good.

For sure dude, I agree! I read all those interviews as well! It's not the lack of technicality that bugs me, just like I said how predictable it all starts to sound...I am not a fan of Maiden or Priest so that direction doesn't really appeal to me...I dunno, it's well done and I totally respect all of it, but for me, the way ITP just catches you off guard with totally unexpected notes and harmonies is the best shit ever...

Death is amazing, all albums. But nothing beats Human. All time favorite Death album.

Exactly how I feel about that too Mason. All albums are amazing, god-like, whatever comparisons you want to make, but Human just...amazing. That's all I can really say about it. It's hard to describe.

Chuck shulinder and sean rinehert!!! Can't beat that.....Sean's drumming is just so good and fits in with chucks style really well, if only he would have had time to drum on the mighty Individual thought patterns.....sigh.

dude you think sound of perseverence is predictable?
i think you should have another listen. Perhaps Story to Tell. Probably one of the coolest arrangements of diverse riffs i think.

If it wasn't chuck in Control denied and The album was promoted in the Heavy metal way it would be one of the best albums out at the time. But becuase he was death all the fans were expecting another death album. And ITP is the best death album hands down!!
