Just got my Jackson RR1 yesterday.
Wow. This is too much fun. Best guitar I've ever played on. I'm in the poor house now, oh well. At least I have the guitar, I've been craving. I'll put up some pics later today. Next week when I get paid, I'll have it professionally setup.

Mason, how long did it take Jackson to build this guitar for you? And how do you like those pickups?

Got it in about four months, two months early. I'm on my third set of pickups. Just got it back today actually. First set was Seymour Duncan's, they are good for slower type of metal. To me they sounded thick, but loose. Too much bass. Second set was EMG 81 and 85. While they sounded tighter, it didn't have much note articulation. When you pick fast, the notes would run together. Right now I have a Dimarzio Fred in the bridge and a Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell in the neck. I think I finally got dialed in, to what I was looking for. The Fred is very picky, it will not let you get away with sloppy playing (which is a good thing). The notes are very focused. It also brings some nice crunch and bite to the tone. The low end is very tight and punchy. The HFH is very bright, but clean. For leads it really cuts. Need to lower the pickup a bit I think. Not as round as I was hoping for but, it has a stinging quality that I like. What I am really happy about is that these pickups are very versatile. My cleans sound better than they ever have. I can put my pickup switch in any position and it sounds great.
Pickups are a very odd thing to work with. It takes a lot of trial and error to find the one that works for you. Everyone's ears are different.

Interesting! I'm thinking of checking out a Fred.
