I also agree that Devourment are "slammier" than SoF

i would rate Devo as better overall, but SoF probably have a higher slam ratio.
Devourment are definately more "slammy" and Vomit Remnants also sneak past IMO in terms of quality.... Degrade are up there too.
There's a band called Sordid I believe who are about as blatant a Suffo rip off as you're liable to get, but with more slam bits.

Hey DisgorgeyourGuts- You're back! Man, you haven't been around for a long time. Ever since.....
....well, ever since you came on here and listed almost every band on the UL roster and said that every one of them sucked. Yeah, I remember now. We all started asking you what bands you thought were "Good" and "Heavy".
As I recall it, you couldn't name one. Is that why you haven't been around? Have you been searching the www this whole time trying to find the most Elite, brootal and heavy band so we could all be educated in metal? Any luck? We could all use some of your metal wisdom.

No band gets me more pumped up with those slam riffs like Dying Fetus does. But some other good ones are Suffocation (theirs really go with the songs well), Devourment (nearly everything on "Butcher The Weak" is fuckin groovey as hell, maybe even more groove then "Molesting The Decapitated" if you ask me. When I get the money I got to get that CD from Mike, the new drummer is fuckin awesome on this one)

Goratory has some good ones.
vegan DM bands that sing about gore piss me off, but that's a whole other topic.
I wasn't aware there was such thing as vegan death metal bands. Can you name them?

Cattle Decapitation (well, their more grindcore then death metal IMO). But as far as I understand not one person in that band eats meat and A LOT of their songs deal with that subject matter. If not a lot then nearly all of them. Hell their front covers say it all. And don't you make it clear to everyone Luke that your vegan and Sleep Terror stands for that too? Sleep Terror is just pure death metal but it's obvious you have death metal influences.

Cattle isn't vegan, nor death metal. Sleep Terror isn't even a band anymore and probably never will be so I wouldn't classify it as such. It hasn't really been a concept band though, I mean there are no lyrics. The meaning of such refers to night traumas that I thought reflected problems with the world and how things are that make someone wake up in clammy sweat in disgust with reality, etc. So in a way it is a conceptual thing, but not neccessarily vegan. I do agree that gore lyrics are silly when the message is promoting vegetarianism though. I think lyrically Earth Crisis did it the best. Most lyrical content in death metal is pretty negative and silly anyway.

Cattle isn't vegan? Odd, when they were hear they had that creepy video playing at their merch stand about animal meat and I've read in an interview (REVOLVER Magazine) of theirs that none of them eat meat cause they think it's wrong and their all vegans. Of course that was in 2002 so I guess they had a big fat juicy steak that changed their minds, lol.

I asked them directly in person at our show and they were fairly honest. They're not vegan. Vegans don't eat any animal products whatsoever, while vegetarians just don't eat the flesh of the animal.. Regardless of which they are, they're still doing something for the animals and deserve credit for it and I tip my hat to them. Most musicians never really have anything interesting to say and are incredibly dull. Especially in metal. I do agree with you however that gore lyrics are a little strange for a pro-veg band and doesn't really fit the picture. That's the one thing that doesn't really move with with Cattle. A picture of a cows head snapped off on an album cover doesn't get me stoked nor did it convince me when I was once a meat eater. But maybe for them it has a point. Other than them though I can't possibly think of a full on veg band other than Carcass, though I heard a couple of them dudes eat fish now. Oh well to each their own.

Glad you saw my point Luke....
i wasn't having a dig at vegans/vegitarians - besides the fact i don't have enough of a deathwish to try and tackle THAT barrel of tofu on here - just how it seemed like they were trying to juxtapose strong vegan ideologies on top of gratuitous gore band material....
not quite as profound as i set out to make that paragraph but hey ho.

Also another honorable mention would be Disavowed. The live videos of them on their site are groovy as fuck.
i'm not "dissing" Carcass before you get all uppity... I'm saying how I can't stand bands that try and merge gratuitious gore lyrics about such things as violence & bodily fluids with a staunchly vegan/vegitarian ideology.
I wasn't personalyl aware to tell the truth that Carcass were even vegitarian, aside from one small quote at the back of 'Necroticism...' which while it does mention vegitarianism also in the same paragraph mentions dismembered penis' and wanting to make love to the entire human race, man and women...

I thought that "thugsquad crap" is pure irony. But I could be wrong.
And I really like their later records to. Maybe that's only me.
Mike did a nice review of the last IB record which is postet on their own homepage (ha,ha,ha). That's what I call humour.
