DIE CHOKING: Philadelphia Hypergrind Trio To Storm Full Terror Assault Fest This Weekend; Summer/Fall Tour Dates Expanded

Philadelphia-based by-the-throat hardcore grinders DIE CHOKING will take their blistering live set to the audiences at Full Terror Assault fest this weekend in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. The band will storm the main stage of the massive gathering alongside the likes of Lock Up, Rotten Sound, Dying Fetus, Cephalic Carnage, Sacred Reich, Shining, Master, and many others.

DIE CHOKING continues to tour in support of their debut LP, III, which has seen the band decimating audiences across North America and Europe steadily over the past year since the album?s release. The attack of the band?s first European tour early this year alongside Paris-based Department Of Correction will now repeat itself on US shores this Fall. DOC will head into the country mid-October to join up with DIE CHOKING for a week-and-a-half of tour dates down the East Coast, which comes to a finale at the massive The Fest 15 in Gainesville, Florida with the likes of Fucking Invincible, Coke Bust, Braid, Night Birds, and dozens more. The tour is preceded by a rash of DIE CHOKING one-off shows over the coming weeks.

Decibel Magazine calls the band, ?the energetic, Hellenistic philosophy-obsessed future of grind,? offering, ?Just don?t think that DIE CHOKING?s fondness of brevity is another example of 21st Century grind kid ADD? the band takes pride in the arrangements, narrative and atmosphere of whirlwinds?? Stereogum issued, ??III?s not all flying spittle and popping veins. DIE CHOKING channels the intensity with a subtle songwriting intelligence that begins to emerge after the initial shock of their impact wears off.? Noisey notes how DIE CHOKING, ?has grown a big reputation in short time for its unrelenting, caustic brand of socio-politically conscious, anti-authoritarian punk/metal played at tempos that come close to breaking the sound barrier, issuing of the LP, ?III contains the band?s most confrontational, intense, and crust-fueled sounds yet while exploring heady philosophical concepts.? Bloody Disgusting praised the devastation of the album?s, ?pure sensory assault, featuring blistering drums, raging vocals, and a wall of distorted guitars, all combining to ensure maximum face melting power,? and Cvlt Nation exclaims, ?An all-out brutality fest will take place in your brain once you hear this album! From the very first to the last moment of this album, this band wants to punish, and they do a pummeling job of just that!?

ULCERATE Shares “Extinguished Light” From Relapse-Bound Shrines Of Paralysis; Release Date And Preorders Issued + Fall Tour Looms

Forward-thinking, unorthodox New Zealand death metal trio ULCERATE returns this October with their latest masterwork Shrines Of Paralysis. A flawless continuation of the band’s signature sonic philosophy, this week the band shares the album’s street date and preorders, as well as the first single, “Extinguished Light.”

Shrines Of Paralysis spans eight tracks of ULCERATE’s singular death metal, incorporating a wider range of styles and ideas than ever before. Influences both within and beyond metal abound: organic, inventive phrasings and novel compositional techniques flesh out a thundering package of death, doom, and black metal stylings. As is characteristic of the band, Shrines Of Paralysis is about much more than just the music. The production, themes, and atmosphere all shape ULCERATE’s music, and help guide the way through a highly evocative palette of dark and light passages, subtly dramatic rhythmic manipulation, and unparalleled technical heaviness. The band’s most cohesive and powerful release to date.

Additionally, ULCERATE has announced a headlining North American Fall tour with Icelandic dissonance-mongers Zhrine and Montreal death metal quartet Phobocosm. The trek embarks out of Los Angeles on November 2nd and consumes the rest of the month, the final show taking place November 29th in Brooklyn, New York. Death metal has always had roots in themes of humanity, darkness, and oppression, but when ULCERATE formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 2000, their unconventional approach to the genre quickly redefined the meaning of those concepts throughout death metal and beyond. The trio’s distinctive treatment of dynamics alongside in-depth lyrical content established the band as a formidable force long before they became the standard-bearers for a new era of death metal, one defined by meticulous passages of understated melodic sensibilities and jarring, tooth-scraping dissonance. Following the release of two promising demos, Ulcerate and The Coming Of Genocide, ULCERATE released their debut full-length Of Fracture And Failure (Neurotic Records, 2007), which sent waves through the underground. ULCERATE ascended to the global stage upon the release of their 2009 sophomore record and Willowtip Records debut, Everything Is Fire, which garnered the band widespread critical recognition and enabled them to complete extensive tours of Europe for the first time.

ULCERATE’s next two albums found the band venturing into bleaker and more atmospheric territory than ever before. The Destroyers Of All, released via Willowtip in 2011, captivated press and audiences worldwide, even appearing at #3 on Pitchfork’s top 40 metal albums of the year. In 2013, ULCERATE joined forces with Relapse Records for the release of Vermis, which further refined the band’s doom-laden take on technical death metal and became ULCERATE’s most acclaimed and accomplished release thus far.

The band are masters of their craft outside the studio, too – ULCERATE has taken the time to hone a punishing live act and establish themselves as an inimitable live presence. The band has toured the world extensively, including headlining North American tours with labelmates Inter Arma & Tombs, a headlining UK tour with Bell Witch, headlining European tours with Svart Crown and Wormed, and numerous tours of New Zealand and Australia. ULCERATE have also appeared at worldwide festivals ranging from Maryland Deathfest in the US to Hellfest in France and more.

DYSRHYTHMIA Deploys “Severed And Whole” From The Veil Of Control LP Through Exclusive Metal Injection Stream

“Severed And Whole” is the explosive new single to be deployed into the public domain from NYC-based instrumental metal tacticians, DYSRHYTHMIA. The new track hails from the band’s seventh studio full-length, The Veil Of Control, which is nearing release through Profound Lore in September.

Metal Injection is hosting the exclusive early stream of “Severed And Whole,” the song paired with an excellent write-up of the album, which includes, “Time in Gorguts, Krallice, Withered as well as solo efforts has Kevin Hufnagel, Colin Marston, and Jeff Eber in an ethos of accomplished musicians that many strive for.” The review proclaims of this new single specifically, “Like any great instrumental band, the track does not leave you wanting vocals. It is an important concept that master musicians like DYSRHYTHMIAare able to capitalize on and it is just one of multiple facets that makes the trio an influential force.”

Profound Lore will release The Veil Of Control on September 23rd. Stand by for additional audio samples, as well as preorders, tour dates, and more from DYSRHYTHMIA in the coming weeks.

Since their inception over seventeen years ago, NYC-based power-trio DYSRHYTHMIA has fully established themselves as one of the most notable progressive and unique instrumental metal bands.
With The Veil Of Control, DYSRHYTHMIA’s Kevin Hufnagel, Colin Marston, and Jeff Eber have once again created a new expression within their boundary-pushing repertoire. Conceived and executed within the confines of Menegroth, The Thousand Caves, in Queens, recorded, mixed and mastered by Marston, with artwork by Marston and Hufnagel, The Veil Of Control delivers six intense but seamless and expansive new works totaling nearly thirty-six minutes of instrumental technical metal perfection. The album sees Hufnagel solely using a twelve-string guitar on the LP, a facet that will go unparalleled within the niche genre of “instrumental progressive music”, demonstrating again the band’s importance within the scene.

WRVTH: Atmospheric Tech Death Unit Issues Second Installment Of Their Live In-Studio Video Series Via Gear Gods; North American Tour Underway

“It’s a perfect backdrop for their ethereal, ambient, soul-crushing sound that switches without warning from one mood to the next.” – Gear Gods

Atmospheric tech death unit WRVTH today issues part two of their live, in-studio video series with “Forlorn” which comes by way of the band’s self-titled full-length, issued last year by Unique Leader Records.

The moving, black and white performance clip was captured at Fang Studios with Nick Loiacono of FLYTRAPtv. “We feel the songs on our record are best represented in a live context,” said the band in a collective statement. “‘Forlorn’ is especially one of those songs that a raw production lends to the song accordingly, lyrically, and musically.”

Adds Gear Gods, “WRVTH are feeling ‘Forlorn’ in this live-in-studio video, which will likely make you feel forlorn as well, as it is shot all in black and white. It’s a perfect backdrop for their ethereal, ambient, soul-crushing sound that switches without warning from one mood to the next. Their recently released self-titled album… features a host of progressive blackened death jams for your aural pleasure. This band is putting out some truly interesting and unique sounding music (that’s also quite gorgeous – sometimes the two are mutually exclusive it seems), and you’ll be feeling your own wrath if you sleep on this album.”

is currently in the midst of a headlining tour which commenced on August 5th in Bend, Oregon. The journey includes an appearance at Jamfest in Beamsville, Ontario and will run through September 3rd in Sacramento, California.

Tracked at SharkBite/Castle Ultimate Studios by Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Fallujah, All Shall Perish et al.), Wrvth- commended by Dead Rhetoric for being, “bold and visceral, all while providing depth and feelings” – features a guest appearance from Daniel Casares of Bay Area jazz group, Atta Kid, on saxophone and continues to astound the ears of fans and critics globally for its expert balance of beauty and brutality.

“[WRVTH’s] penchant for dramatic atmospherics under ominous, stormy death metal might garner them ‘on a playlist with Fallujah’ one-liners. And the collective’s technical wizardry certainly makes them right at home on Unique Leader. But damn if the devil isn’t in the details here. WRVTH add to their sonic stew a heavy helping of skronk – think Gorguts, Ulcerate, Artificial Brain, etc. – and a dash of post-hardcore sensibility, both in the harmonic structure of the chords they’re using and the vocal approach, all of which makes for a much more moody and emotional experience.” – MetalSucks

“WRVTH’s long stretches of ambience, combined with a half-billion different guitar riffs and occasional blast-beats, give the band the sense of an auteur, painting a multitude of different, distinctive pictures within their new disc’s run-time.” – No Clean Singing

“WRVTH reemerge with a unique, albeit morose, offering that outshines any previous efforts.” – Sputnik Music

SHEEVAA Release Official Video for “Anger” Off Upcoming ‘The Five Stages of Grief’ EP “Anger”

In sequence with their single “DENIAL,” Nu-metal act SHEEVAA has teamed up with Alternative Press to premier their relentless new video, entitled ANGER. Combining the forces of nature and aggressive, hard hitting NU metal, we witness the story of an unfolding character and his descent into insanity.

“When we first decided to go with The Five Stages Of Grief concept, I was very excited on phase two in particular; “ANGER”. Before we had written this song, I already knew the song should give off this “anxiety attack” type of feeling. Vocally, this song sounds like emotions were just released into a microphone without any hesitation or thinking. Majority of this EP is about my father who is diagnosed with Bi-Polar or also known as Manic/Depression. As I was growing up, I noticed the pills he was prescribed sometimes stabilized him, but other times made it much worse. He is a normal man battling his own mind. I then realized there are many others in the same situation as myself. You are truly not alone. I want SHEEVAA to be something people can relate to on a different level. We hope you enjoy “ANGER” and enjoy the rest of the album.”

We are Sheevaa.

We are limitless. The band puts out a vast mixture of gritty bass grooves, crushing drums, low-tuned guitars, relentless stage performance and Eastern Indian melodies. We are the physical manifestation of the thoughts that live inside of every one of us. Join us and experience our evolution.

CHIL BITE continues to astound ears with the apocalyptic sounds of Negative Noise, out now on Housecore Records. The wild, forty-seven-minute ride was produced by label head Philip H. Anselmo, mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer), and is where the Venn diagram of Black Flag, Voivod, and The Jesus Lizard truly overlaps.

The Sludgelord notes, “CHILD BITE creates an idiosyncratic racket, a chaotic collision of off-kilter punk, the weirder end of ’80s hardcore and rumbling post-punk. Negative Noise is an invigorating blast of dissonance, a blend of familiar influences twisted into their warped vision. Shawn Knight’s hyperactive drawl makes a compelling foil to the band’s manic yet inventive playing, as his Jello Biafra via Mike Watt drawl varies in intensity to match the song’s twists and turns.” New Noise Magazine calls CHILD BITE’s Negative Noise, “…an adventurous slice of loud rock…They have the aggressive force of hardcore, but it’s filtered through grimy noise rock…Negative Noise showcases a band firing on all cylinders.” Brave Words observes, “The danger with this sort of artsy punk is that it can skirt a line between really interesting and creative and just really annoying and grating, really fast. Most bands who do this sort of thing end up being in the latter category, but CHILD BITE stay listenable, thanks to a ton of interesting and cool guitar work (check out ‘Video Blood’) and an ability to keep things toe-tapping and relatively rockin’, even if it’s rarely with a straight beat and is certainly never with an expected twist or turn,” adding, “References within the sphere of metal are hard to come by, but imagine if the first Mr. Bungle album wasn’t annoying circus music, and then remember that this band once did a 5″ record of Anal Cunt covers with Phil Anselmo on vocals, and you’re getting there.” Punk News concurs, “This is for the open minded punk, headbanger or weirdo. If you like your music a little on the ugly side, you owe it to yourself to check them out. (Especially if you get a chance to see them live.) Negative Noise can be a hard record to love, but ultimately it’s worth the effort.” No Clean Singing notes, ” Negative Noise possesses a brilliance and individuality all its own and is a refreshing breath of fetid air in an era saturated with a d-beat-only approach to punk and hardcore,” while KNAC hails, “…an all-over-the-place shitstorm of punk/hardcore, metal, noise/post rock, prog and even surf music in Brandon Sczomak’s shrill guitar jangle…it sounds sorta like someone stuffed Mr. Bungle/Fantomas, Voivod, old Clutch (especially in Shawn Knight’s husky baritone and seemingly extemporaneous delivery), Black Flag and The Jesus Lizard into a blender, pushed ‘grind’ and then forget to turn it off.”

# Anthrax, DEATH ANGEL only

DEATH ANGEL will be touring in support of their newest full-length The Evil Divide, released earlier this

Spring via Nuclear Blast Records. The Evil Divide was once again recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, Deicide), who previously worked on 2010?s Relentless Retribution and 2013?s The Dream Calls For Blood. Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City.
Three decades into their celebrated career, DEATH ANGEL remains as hungry as ever. As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability drive The Evil Divide. The group ? vocalist Mark Osegueda, lead guitarist Rob Cavestany, guitarist Ted Aguilar, drummer Will Carroll, and bassist Damien Sisson ? satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of ten new anthems.

The Evil Divide stands out as the culmination of thirty-plus years of music for DEATH ANGEL. It kicked off with legendary debut, The Ultra-Violence, in 1987. The classic Frolic Through The Park began to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire?s list of the ?Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released By The Big 4.? The group broke up following 1990?s Act III only to reunite in 2004 on Art Of Dying for the next generation.

In 2008, DEATH ANGEL teamed with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush, Mastodon) for Killing Season recorded at Dave Grohl?s Studio 606. In 2010, Relentless Retribution boasted a cameo from virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela, while 2013?s The Dream Calls For Blood bowed at #72 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 5,400 copies first-week and earning the group?s first-ever entry onto that respective chart.

Jett Blakk Releases Debut Album – Rock Revolution

GSR Entertainment and HearYou Music announce the world-wide digital release of the debut album by Kansas City Rockers, Jett Blakk. “Rock Revolution” was mixed, mastered, and produced by Grammy winning producer Mitch Malloy at Malloy Master Tracks Studio.

Background vocals by Bekka Bramlett on “Let Love Win.” Recorded and engineered by Bekka Bramlett at Blueberry – Hillbilly Sound.

A full album of massive choruses and melodies with staying power that appeals to generations.

“I wanted to do a Rock album that had the integrity of the 80’s with a Millennium modernness that was bona fide with a Grammy award winning engineer.” – Tommy Law

“Welcome to the Rock Revolution.” – Randy Blakk

About Jett Blakk

Jett Blakk was formed by Tommy Law and Randy Blakk. Both have several years of experience in the Midwest music scene and names everyone recognizes.

Tommy Law is a 14 time All-State #1 medalist from CMSU – the only tenor to do so in the state of Missouri. He was a vocal major at Central Missouri State University. His classical training shows in his vocal style – very reminiscent of Bon Jovi .

After many years in the Midwest music scene, Tommy took several years off to get his personal life where it needed to be but has returned with a vengeance.

“The universe is a magnet pulling us towards our destiny.” – Randy Blakk

Randy Blakk started his musical career as the guitarist and songwriter for Uncertain Future. He moved on to tour with Union Underground as a guitar tech on their Education in Rebellion tour. His most recent project before Jett Blakk was as the singer/songwriter for Son of Man. After a brief break from the music scene, he joined forces with Tommy Law to form Jett Blakk.

“Sometimes you are thrown opportunities. Turn it into something great and not a ‘What If’ moment.” Mike MacDowell

Mike MacDowell started playing guitar at the age of 12 and hasn’t stopped yet. His dad made him start with an acoustic and when he mastered that, he went to the attic and got the Gibson. It was all good things from there. His first band was Sicadis 6 years ago. He recently joined Jett Blakk and brings an intense playing style. His goal is to create a style that is so unique that you can tell it is him before he has finished the first two bars.

“The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” Tour Launches November 17

Fan Club Pre-Sale Begins September 7
Public Tickets Available Beginning September 16

Los Angeles, CA (August 16, 2016) – Paul O’Neill launched a project in 1996 that over the past 20 years has become a critically-acclaimed, multi-platinum, musical powerhouse: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The progressive rock group’s record-setting “rock theater” tours sell out venues year after year and have cemented TSO’s status as a must-attend, multi-generational, holiday tradition. Now, TSO’s creator/lyricist/composer O’Neill is proud to announce that in its Platinum anniversary year, the group is bringing back its treasured tale, “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve,” to 61 cities across North America beginning on November 17th and concluding, after 105 shows, with special New Year’s Eve performances in Seattle and Cleveland (see below for a full itinerary). TSO’s Winter Tour 2016 is presented nationally by the Hallmark Channel.

The tour pre-sale opens to fan club members on September 7 through September 9, with the general public on sale set to begin on September 16 (see for details). TSO is pleased to announce that each concert ticket purchased online will include a digital audio copy of The Ghosts of Christmas Eve. This is the first time these songs have been released in an audio package, and the album features a bonus track titled “Music Box Blues (Daryl Pediford Tribute New York 2004).”

Debuted last year to rave critical and fan reviews, and based on TSO’s multi-platinum DVD and long running PBS fundraiser, “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve,” follows the journey of a runaway who breaks into an abandoned vaudeville theater on December 24th. While seeking shelter from the cold, the teen is discovered by the theater’s caretaker who uses the ghosts and spirits from the building’s past to turn her life around. The rock opera features such enduring fan-favorites as “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24,” “O’ Come All Ye Faithful,” “Good King Joy,” “Christmas Canon,” “Music Box Blues,” “Promises To Keep,” and “This Christmas Day.” 2016’s tour will see an all new second set containing some of TSO’s greatest hits and fan-pleasers.

O’Neill said, “This show was an experiment, to take something that was conceived for TV and try to express that story live on stage. Integrating segments of the TV show, with a live narrator, and full rock band was something TSO has never done. It brought back so many memories to see Ossie Davis and everyone else who helped make that TV special into the annual tradition that it has become. The overwhelming response from the fans during the 2015 Winter Tour drove the band’s decision to take it back out on the road this year. As always we have new artists, new special effects and lots of surprises in store. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the road.”

2015 was another landmark year for TSO, with their hit tour and the release of the chart-topping new album, Letters from the Labyrinth (TSO’s third Top 10 album debut in a row, it spent six weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Chart). 2015’s tour hit 60 cities across North America and played to more than 850,000 people. The run grossed more than $41 million in just 45 days which resulted in it being ranked No. 15 on the “Top 200 North American Tours” chart and No. 30 on the “Top 100 Worldwide Tours” chart by concert industry trade Pollstar magazine.

The tour was also featured on CBS Sunday Morning and in a cover story for the Wall Street Journal. In the summer of 2015, at the Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany, TSO produced an industry first when the group performed a coordinated set across the festival’s massive two main stages, to a crowd of over 80,000 fans.

TSO has cemented itself as one of the world’s biggest rock acts, by playing approximately 2,000 shows for nearly 13 million fans, with tour grosses of more than $580 million, and selling in excess of 10 million albums and DVDs. In 2009, Billboard magazine placed TSO at No. 25 on its “Top Touring Artists of the Decade.”

As in all previous years, $1 to $2 of every ticket sold benefits select local charities. To date, in excess of $13 million has been distributed to worthy charities all across North America.

Sweden?s musical alchemists, OPETH, will be releasing their bewitching, 12th studio album, Sorceress, on September 30th via the band?s imprint label Moderbolaget Records with Nuclear Blast Entertainment. In celebration of the release the band has planned special shows at historic venues around the world in support of the record, including Radio City Music Hall in New York on October 1st, Wembley Arena in London on November 19th and the famed Sydney Opera House on February 6th, 2017.

These memorable performances also celebrate the recent release of OPETH?s Deliverance & Damnation box set, featuring the band?s classic 2002 and 2003 records as one complete work as originally intended, and their just released record Lamentations – Live at Shepherd?s Bush Empire that?s available now on DVD and 180 gram 3xLP from Music For Nations.

OPETH will be performing music from their upcoming album, Sorceress, as well as fan favorite cuts from their celebrated catalog and will be closing the shows with a special set featuring material from Deliverance & Damnation.

?We?re getting pumped up for the coming ?Sorceress? world tour. We have 3 shows scheduled that are quite ?out of the ordinary? due to their legendary status and location. The SSE Wembley Arena in London/UK. Radio City Music Hall in New York/USA, and the famous Sydney Opera House/Australia. These three shows will be completely unique in terms of songs, spanning over 2 separate set lists. We?ll pull out songs from our back catalogue and mix it up with newer stuff during the first set. The 2nd set will consist of songs exclusively from the Deliverance/Damnation records, that was just celebrated with a re-release combo package by the newly revived Music For Nations label. So it?s a little bit of a celebration indeed! We?ll only play this set list 3 times on the whole world tour, so if you miss it, you?ll have missed it. Of course all other shows will be treated with the same amount of respect and we?ll chisel out a nice diverse set list spanning over our entire career for every single show during the tours. We very much hope to see you there!? – Mikael Åkerfeldt

WHITECHAPEL recently completed an extensive run across the US on the annual Vans Warped Tour, touring in support of their sixth full-length, Mark Of The Blade. Hailed as, “an exciting milestone,” by Alternative Press, Mark Of The Blade was produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse) and sees WHITECHAPEL redefine who they are and what they are capable of with the resulting eleven tracks. Kicking off with “The Void” – which has a Slayer-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band’s three-guitar attack – the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on “Decennium” bring the record to a close, it’s impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. Guitarist Alex Wade explains, “At this point in our career and as we grow older, we are taking a more open-minded approach to creating our music, allowing what we think sounds good to evolve naturally, rather than to just write what is expected of us.”

One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache came together during last year’s monolithic North American trek which united both bands. Amidst the chaos of tour life, the two groups found time to record together at Machines With Magnets in Rhode Island. The session eventually culminated into the harrowing sounds found on One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, which is ultimately an audio reflection of their surroundings and their inability to cope therein. The record includes two bonus tracks as well as a bastardized rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “The Butcher.”

Pitchfork dubs the offering, “…a document of the overwhelming power of depression,” Metal Injection observes, “One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache is unusual, disgusting, and just as harrowing as you’d come to expect from either THE BODY or FULL OF HELL. It’s one of the only truly unhinged albums that has come out in the last several years,” while Decibel issues, “There’s some fucked up chemistry on their collaboration. On tracks like ‘Fleshworks’ and ‘The Little Death,” the bands forge new sounds that couldn’t have happened in any other context. Mostly though, the reinforce each other’s impulses towards abstraction.” New Noise Magazine calls the record “…an absolute assault on your senses that will leave an imprint for years to come…. For maximum experience, listen at full volume in a cold, bare, and unclean room with flickering lights while half naked and in a deranged state.” Adds A.V. Club, “THE BODY and FULL OF HELL are two of the most prolific bands in extreme music. While other groups that release so much material typically lapse into mediocrity at some point, both of these bands are seemingly inexhaustible wells of brilliance. One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache is a perfect example.”

ACT OF DEFIANCE – featuring Chris Broderick (ex-Megadeth), Shawn Drover (ex-Megadeth), Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall, Times Of Grace), and Henry Derek (Scar The Martyr) – is touring in support of their recently released full-length, Birth And The Burial. The record was commended by Terrorizer for delivering a, “perfectly produced, super slick slice of savage, technical modern thrash,” while Powerplay hailed sounds that are sure to, “destroy your eardrums, as they are uncompromising and unrelenting metal at its very best.”

Jett Blakk, the hard-rocking band based in Kansas City, announces the world-wide release their first single, Rock Revolution on August 5.  Rock Revolution is the title track off their upcoming album by the same name that is set to release on August 19.

I wanted to do a Rock album that had the integrity of the 80?s with a Millennium modernness that was bona fide with a Grammy award winning engineer.” ? Tommy Law

“Rock Revolution” was produced by Grammy winning producer Mitch Malloy.  It is a full album of massive choruses and melodies with staying power that appeals to generations.

The CD is currently for sale HERE.

The single is available on iTunes, and other online stores and streaming sites.

EYEHATEGOD: Philip H. Anselmo To Fill In For Mike IX Williams On Two Special Shows Later This Month

Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Superjoint, Scour, Pantera et al) will be filling in for EYEHATEGOD vocalist Mike IX Williams on two upcoming shows: the first at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 19th and the second at the 2016 edition of Gwar BQ in Richmond, Virginia on August 20th.

Comments Williams, “Due to some recent, very important health issues I am dealing with, I would like to announce that Philip H. Anselmo will be filling in for me at two special EYEHATEGOD gigs; New Orleans’s Southport Music Hall and the seventh annual Gwar BQ. Phil has my full blessings for these shows and with all forces willing, I will return to the stage as soon as I am physically able.”

Adds Anselmo, “When our brothers in one of New Orleans’ most influential music outfits needs me, I’m there, one-thousand percent. There is no secret that I adore my brethren in EYEHATEGOD, as I’ve always supported them through thick and thin. This present situation will be no different. In light of Michael D. Williams’ health issues, which he needs to address more importantly than any other point in his life, and should be respected by anyone with a heart, I will do my best to fill in for him. Those are mighty big shoes to fill, but I shall do my best, once again. I do believe I speak on the behalf of all concerned parties when I state that we all need Mike IX Williams to heal, recover, and get better, as soon as possible. These gigs are not about me; it is about keeping the obligations of EYEHATEGOD, as a band and force, able to stay true to their commitments to these two gigs. My admiration of Mike and all of his works, especially EYEHATEGOD knows zero boundaries, hence, me doing these gigs. Here’s to Mike’s recovery, and here’s to supporting these shows on his behalf. Much love to everyone.”

EYEHATEGOD will take to the streets this October on a ten-date US tour alongside hardcore punk icons Discharge. The tour will run from October 6th through October 15th with additional support provided by Toxic Holocaust.

8/19/2016 Southport Music Hall – New Orleans, LA
8/20/2016 Gwar BQ – Richmond, VA
w/ Discharge, Toxic Holocaust:
10/06/2016 Studio Seven – Seattle, WA
10/07/2016 Dantes – Portland, OR
10/08/2016 Observatory – Santa Ana, CA
10/09/2016 Slim’s – San Francisco, CA
10/10/2016 The Roxy – Los Angeles, CA
10/11/2016 Glass House – Pomona, CA
10/12/2016 Brighton Music Hall – Boston, MA
10/13/2016 Soundstage – Baltimore, MD
10/14/2016 Webster Hall/Marlin Room – New York, NY
10/15/2016 Reggies – Chicago, IL

EYEHATEGOD reemerged stronger and more determined than ever before with their self-titled LP, which dropped in 2014 via Housecore Records. Reaping critical acclaim globally, the record marks the band’s most successful release in their twenty-five-plus-year lineage. Having helped define the NOLA sound with their signature down-tuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the tormented screams of Mike IX Williams over a thundering rhythm section, EyeHateGod personifies desperation and addiction in the various backwaters of forgotten America, punctuated by the “N’awlins” sound of rebellion and pollution resulting in triumph over adversity.

Announcing the “Max & Iggor Cavalera RETURN TO ROOTS” Tour

Announcing the Max & Iggor Cavalera RETURN TO ROOTS tour – celebrating the 20th anniversary of the legendary album Roots – to be played in its entirety each night! The North American tour, which kicks off in Las Vegas on September 12, will feature direct support on select dates from The Black Dahlia Murder and Combichrist, with additional support from Allegaeon, All Hail The Yeti and Oni.

Max & Iggor Cavalera will perform their set with their Cavalera Conspiracy brothers, guitarist Marc Rizzo and bassist Johny Chow.

In addition, very special Meet & Greet passes can be purchased at Max & Iggor Cavalera’s merch booth each night. Fans will be given the opportunity to take a photo with Max & Iggor, and they will each sign a Roots CD, cassette or vinyl. This applies to only the Roots album and one autograph and one photo will be permitted per person. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to have your Roots album signed by the men behind the music.

“Metalheads! It’s time,” declares Max Cavalera. “20 years ago, we released the Roots album and changed the face of metal forever. Now, we’re returning to “the roots” to show everybody the magic and inspiration of the Roots live experience! You cannot miss this RETURN TO ROOTS 2016!”

Iggor Cavalera adds, “I am very proud to play Roots again, to reaffirm that after 20 years, it still moves people! We hit the stage again with Roots to destroy everywhere we pass by!”

Max & Iggor Cavalera are the original founding members of influential RIAA Gold-Certified Brazilian heavy metal legends Sepultura, and specifically the team behind the band’s early albums, including seminal releases Arise, Chaos A.D. and Roots. It’s 107 degrees in Northern California on this day and about an hour before QUEENSRYCHE hits the stage opening for VINCE NEIL. I had the opportunity to speak with guitarist MICHAEL WILTON to discuss their latest album, Condition Human, Sports, his choice of Republican candidate Donald Trump, and the importance of being in the moment with today’s music business.

DENY THE CROSS: Alpha Ghoul Full-Length From Powerviolence Supergroup Streaming At Noisey; Record To Drop This Friday Via Tankcrimes

DENY THE CROSS, the lethal powerviolence alliance uniting current and past members of Spazz, Black Army Jacket, Agents Of Satan, Municipal Waste, and Discordance Axis, will drop their ravaging Alpha Ghoul full-length this Friday via Tankcrimes.

As a precursor to its release, today Vice’s music portal Noisey offers up the record in its maniacal entirety noting, “DENY THE CROSS isn’t straight up grind… but is rather locked in a too-close-to-call race for dominance that pits grindcore against classic powerviolence and stirs up enough punk stomp and dirty grooves to keep your head bobbing.”

Hear Alpha Ghoul before you can buy it, courtesy of Noisey, at THIS LOCATION.

Paying respects to the likes of Assück, Napalm Death, Raw Deal, Crossed Out, and Gauze, DENY THE CROSS’ punishing, eighteen-track Alpha Ghoul will see release via Tankcrimes on July 29th, 2016 digitally and on vinyl. The first pressing, limited to just 100 copies, is now sold out.

Alpha Ghoul was captured by Greg Wilkinson (Pallbearer, Vastum) at Earhammer Studios with drums recorded by Chris Pierce (Rorschach, Night Birds) and includes cover art by Mark McCoy of Charles Bronson.

Dan Lactose – guitar
Dave Witte – drums
Ramon Salcido – bass
Carlos Ramirez – vocals

“…an unsettling, dark, and energetic concoction of various elements of death metal, punk, and hardcore.” – Decibel

“You only need to look at the history of DENY THE CROSS’ members to know they’re going to be fucking killer… But if there’s any doubt left in your mind, listen to their new track ‘U69’… Measuring in at 39 seconds long, this one is fast, mean, and very to the point, very much in the vein of grindcore’s filthy devil-may-care forefathers. God damn, this is going to be a fun album.” – MetalSucks on “U69”

GHOUL: Creepsylvanian Hooligans Stream Dungeon Bastards At MetalSucks; Record To Infect The Masses This Friday Via Tankcrimes

This Friday, Tankcrimes will infect the masses with the sonic mutations of Dungeon Bastards, the new full-length from the masked madmen in GHOUL. Captured and mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City) at Antisleep Studios in Oakland, and mastered by Dan Randall (Impaled, Annihilation Time, Fucked Up, Necrot) at Mammoth Sound in San Francisco, Dungeon Bastards wields eleven hemorrhage-inducing tracks of the band’s now-patented Creepsylvanian splatterthrash.

In advance of its release, today the ghouligans at MetalSucks are streaming the record in full noting, “Dungeon Bastards isn’t just GHOUL’s finest album to date – it’s one of 2016’s strongest albums to date, a pipe bomb hybrid of thrash, death metal, and hardcore that is effortlessly aggro and fun. Dungeon Bastards is the kind of record that will have you looking cockeyed at anyone who claims not to like it.”

Hear Dungeon Bastards, courtesy of MetalSucks, at THIS LOCATION.

Dungeon Bastards will rear its seditious head from the subterranean bowls of Creepsylvania on July 29th, 2016 on CD and digital formats. The record will also come in slime green and blood red vinyl options with a gatefold jacket that opens into the Dungeon Bastards board game. Players take turns advancing through a Creepsylvanian map; the first one to get to end of the map and jump the Wall Of Death wins.

GHOUL is currently soiling stages with blood, dread, and disease nationwide supporting Carcass and Crowbar on a seventeen-city US tour. The One Foot In The Grave Tour 2016 will come to a close August 8th. Additional support is being provided by Night Demon. Following their run with Carcass, GHOUL will contaminate four more cities on a smattering of headlining shows. See all confirmed dates below.

*GHOUL Headlining Shows

Utters Mass Movement of GHOUL’s latest masterwork, “Infused with the savage technicality of thrash behemoths and legendary crossover beasts such as Blind Illusion and Attitude, the energy and power of early Death and Sodom and the morbid humours of GWAR, GHOUL’s lifelong mission has taken another crucial step toward world domination. Thrashing time is here…” In a 5/5 score Skulls ‘N’ Bones points out, “Yes, GHOUL has a humorous appearance and slant on their music, but don’t let that fool you. These guys write some seriously good metal and can back everything up with solid musicianship to boot.” Metal Reviews concurs in an 85/100 rating, “With so many gimmicks, it would seem surprising at first glance that GHOUL has continued for this long, but those gimmicks, and the not-so-secret identities of the band members, are just window dressing that covers music that can stand on its own merits. Dungeon Bastards continues GHOUL’s policy of high quality with a blast of noise that will leave fans wishing for more than ten tracks.” Ave Noctum crowns Dungeon Bastards, “the best thing GHOUL has put out to date.” In Decibel’s For Those About To Squawk column, Waldo awards the record, “7 Fucking Pecks,” noting, “The production here is crisp and choppy and adds to the fun of this release… add in the sing-a-long choruses and you have a pretty beaking cool release.” Concludes Riot Nerd, “GHOUL’s live antics and theatrical presentation may get kids through the door and asses in the seats (hell, it certainly got my attention), but on Dungeon Bastards they prove themselves the best of the best of the red food coloring and corn syrup set, with the deft musicianship and songwriting chops to take on anyone, masked, facepainted, or otherwise. Stalwart Creepsylvanians take heed, there’s about to be a population boom. Haters, doubters, trolls, and lurkers won’t be able to deny the ‘naked, merciless force’ of Dungeon Bastards, and GHOUL have earned every single new blood soaked fist in the air.”
