CARCASS Sign to Nuclear Blast Records!

Disinterred British extreme metal legends CARCASS have signed to Nuclear Blast Records for the world excluding Japan! Surgical Steel, the band’s first studio release since their 1996 LP Swansong, was produced by Colin Richardson (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, GOREFEST, CANNIBAL CORPSE, SINISTER, RODRIGO Y GABRIELA) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, TESTAMENT). Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in the band’s current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON). Expect some guest vocals from original sticksman Ken Owen as well, when Surgical Steel is released this Fall world-wide.

CARCASS has released several classic albums over the years, including Decibel Magazine “Hall of Fame” inductees Heartwork and Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious, and their influence has changed the face of extreme metal with every consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (i.e. Reek of Putrefaction, Symphonies of Sickness) or creating the template for melodic death metal (i.e. Heartwork), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. Upon the band’s dismantling in 1996, fans mourned the loss of the seminal act and longed that the group would return again one day. In 2007, the metal world got its wish as CARCASS reformed to play several  sold-out reunion shows around the globe. Once again re-motivated to administer a shot of cynicism and infectious riffs into the arm of a sickly metal scene, founding members Bill Steer and Jeff Walker began writing what would become the latest output of their highly influential career, Surgical Steel. Only the choicest of cuts were made, and blood sweat and tears were shed to bring us a record worthy of the CARCASS legacy. In short, Surgical Steel is just what the doctor ordered.

REVOCATION have confirmed an August 6^th release date for their new self-titled album via Relapse Records.  This is their 4^th full-length release and the first featuring new bassist Brett Bamberger.  Today the band has unveiled the artwork and tracklisting for the album.  The artwork was created by Orion Landau (Dying Fetus, Obscura, Nile).

AMON AMARTH reveals trailer for their forthcoming documentary Forging Mjölnir

AMON AMARTH has revealed a trailer for their forthcoming mini documentary. Entitled Forging Mjölnir, the short film will appear as a three-part series with each official segment slated to premiere via the band’s microsite at http://deceiver.amonamarth.com.

The Forging Mjölnir documentary comes in anticipation of AMON AMARTH’s ninth studio offering, Deceiver of the Gods. Recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, and produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage), the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2011 Surtur Rising full-length delivers ten fiery battle hymns made of buzzsaw riffs and epic harmonies all driven by vocalist Johan Hegg’s commanding Viking roar and absorbing accounts of Norse crusades and treachery. Deceiver of the Gods comes adorned with another outstanding Tom Thiel-created cover portraying a mythical battle between the Norse Gods Loki and Thor. As an added bonus,Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass) makes an appearance as guest vocalist on eighth track, “Hel.”

Deceiver of the Gods will be released in North America via Metal Blade Records June 25th, in Europe June 21st/24th and Japan on June 26th.

LA-based black metal legion, LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH, are emerging for a North American tour this June. They will be supporting Melechesh alongside Vreid and Reign of Lies. The tour begins on June 16th in Los Angeles at The Joint and will wrap up on June 30th in Brooklyn.

BRUTAL TRUTH Announce European Tour Dates + Festival Appearances

The godfathers of grindcore, Brutal Truth, have announced a run of summer and fall European festival appearances and tour dates.  Kicking off July 24th at Metal Camp in Slovenia, the grind veterans will perform a string of 10 dates before heading back in September for another run.  A complete listing of dates is included below with more to be announced shortly.

Brutal Truth released their last full-length End Time in 2011 to immense critical acclaim. The band recently remixed a track from End Time featuring numerous high-profile guests which will be released in the near future via Relapse as a split with powerviolence / noise vets Bastard Noise.  Details on this split will be announced shortly.

DARKANE POST LYRIC VIDEO FOR NEW ALBUM’S TITLE TRACK

Swedish melodic death metallists DARKANE have posted a lyric video for the title track from their upcoming release, “The Sinister Supremacy,” due out in North America on July 2 through PROSTHETIC RECORDS

“The Sinister Supremacy” marks not only the first new music from DARKANE in over five years, but also the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, who was last heard on the band’s 1999 debut.

? THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have released a live clip from their Columbus, OH program on November 9th, 2012. Fans can view Trevor Strnad, Brian Eschbach, Ryan Knight, Max Lavelle, and Alan Cassidy perform “Moonlight Equilibrium” on youtube BELOW. There are two more videos from this program that will be published over the next few weeks. Posts will be made on facebook.com/theblackdahliamurderofficial when new videos are launched.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s brand name new cd, Everblack, will be launched in less than a month. Following the extremely favorable reaction to “Into the Everblack,” the band has partnered with Revolver Publication to stream an additional track from Everblack. Fans can listen to “Rape in Hatred by Vines of Thorn,” an ode to one of Trevor Strnad’s preferred horror motion pictures, Evil Dead, now BELOW.

The cover art for Everblack was painted by prominent artist Nick Keller with Weta, whose recent projects include: The Hobbit, Avatar, Chronicles of Narnia, and more. Recording was completed at Audiohammer Studios (lead guitars and vocals), Rustbelt Studios (drums), and Regal Fecal (guitar and bass). Blending was handled by Jason Suecof and Ryan Williams, mastering was completed by Alan Douches at West Westside. Trevor Strnad’s horror-inspired lyrics continue on Everblack, beginning with In Hell is Where She Waits for Me, a reference to the murder from which the band took for their name.

Fans can grab Everblack on a double gatefold LP with purple/white marbled vinyl, in addition to “criminal offense scene bundles.” A proof pack, which consists of toe tags, deceased band member images, invested shotgun shells, and more can be seen now.

GRIMUS: Exclusive Song Premiere “Without Master”

Death metal band Grimus will release their violent full-length debut next month. Notably, the New Jersey band’s members have done time in Iberian black metal outfit Windfaerer and Metal Blade tech/death act Allegaeon, among others.

Titled Omnicide, the effort was tracked by guitarist Marco Bobadilla, mastered by none other than Alan Douches, and will be available on June 25th. In advance of its release, we’re happy to premiere the track “Without Master” for you below. Check it out.
