MACHINE HEAD: Robb Flynn Robbed, Appeals for Help

Guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn of San Francisco Bay Area group MACHINE HEAD suffered a severe invasion of personal property yesterday, September 7th, as thieves broke into his home between 1:15pm and 3:15pm PST.

Robb Flynn and his family were not present during the invasion, and many priceless items were stolen from his home. These items include the guitar that Flynn recorded MACHINE HEAD’s first album, Burn My Eyes, with, a gifted guitar from late PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell, and Flynn’s son Zander’s mini Flying V; a gift he received from his family for Christmas. Other items stolen include Flynn’s wife’s jewelry, laptops, wakeboards, and cash.

“I am offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the black Ibanez Strat along with many stickers, a ‘Designated Drinker’ sticker,” announces Flynn. “Additionally, I am offering a $2,000 reward for the safe return of the blue Washburn Dimebolt prototype.

“An APB has been put out to every Guitar Center in Northern California and the police were able to get several fingerprints off of the two acoustics that the thieves handled, yet bizarrely left behind. Sightings of two suspicious vehicles have been reported, one a green/teal U.S.-make pickup truck, the other a white full-size work van.

“If anyone sees or hears of anything on Craigslist, eBay, at their guitar shop… anything, anywhere, Please contact us at mike@machinehead1.com immediately.”

Marilyn Manson Turns Into Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down

Marilyn Manson…or Kenny Powers?

Interview reports that Marilyn Manson is a “diehard” fan of HBO’s Eastbound & Down, the critically worshiped comedy starring Danny McBride as a washed-up former baseball star whose trademark mullet and angry face Marilyn Manson is imitating in this photo.

“Whenever I see Marilyn Manson, he’s repeating entire chunks of dialogue and dressed like Kenny. He just walks around dressed like this and fucks with people on the street. If a waiter or valet tells him, ‘Have a nice day,” he’ll respond, ‘Don’t tell me what to do.’ Stuff like that. He’s even dressed like this when I’m at his house watching Béatrice Dalle films and Hoarders.”

FORBIDDEN: Unveil Album Artwork for “Omega Wave”

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN have debuted the artwork to their new studio album, Omega Wave, on their official MySpace page.

FORBIDDEN guitarist / songwriter Craig Locicero checks in about his collaborative process with artist Kent Mathieu, the visual elements that can be found in the album’s artwork, and  his concern for the future of the human race:

“I don’t want to over-explain the actual picture because there is enough symbolism for everyone to interpret everything differently.  That is always a plus, in my book. What I can tell you is that the skull in the center is based upon the crystal skull of Belize.  This skull was found at some of the pyramid ruins in two perfect pieces, jawbone and upper cranium. It was always quite a mystery, but some years later Hewlett Packard scientists did extensive tests on the skull and found many anomalies.

“One of them was that there is no way, even with our most modern technology, that we could cut into the crystal the way this skull was formed.  It would shatter with any instrument we have available, even today. Another thing was the fact that no matter what temperature the skull was placed in, the skull’s temperature would stay almost exactly the same.  Scientists even believe the skull holds information that they could not tap into, like a giant computer chip with an impenetrable code.

“So I got to thinking: Does this skull – and the other ones found throughout the most ancient places on Earth – hold something that we would need to know to possibly save ourselves? This is not an entirely new concept, but it hit me pretty hard.  What could we learn about ourselves that may save us at this all-important juncture for the human race?

RISE AGAINST: “Another Station: Another Mile” Outtakes and Easter Eggs

RISE AGAINST have announced the release of their new DVD Another Station: Another Mile on October 5, 2010 on DGC/Interscope Records. The DVD, which will be available worldwide and also digitally through iTunes,  features performances of 14 songs recorded in locations throughout the world. These performances are interspersed with interviews with each band member of the Chicago based band revealing the creative process that goes into making a RISE AGAINST song and the history of each individual band member.

Also this week; “Savior” becomes the longest running song at Alternative radio. The gold plus selling single from the band’s fifth album, 2008’s Appeal To Reason, has spent more than 63 weeks on the Mediabase Alternative chart.

Another Station: Another Mile begins with a statement from the band:

“Since we put together our last DVD, the snowball that is Rise Against is still gathering size and speed.  What you hold in your hands is the continuing story of our band, what it means to us, and what it means to people like you. At our request, all the live footage you see in the DVD is completely unedited; meaning we didn’t go back and fix or re-do anything. We felt it should stand or fall on its own merit, and be embraced for what is, which is live music. Who knows, maybe we’ll feel differently next year. But for now, the moments are captured raw as we make our way to another station: another mile.”

Check out some outtakes below. More info is available at RISE AGAINST:

WITHERED: Announce Release Date for “Dualitas” and Comment On ‘Blackest of the Black Tour’

Atlanta’s WITHERED has announced October 26 as the street date for Dualitas, their third album, and second for Prosthetic Records. Dualitas was recorded by KYLESA’s Phillip Cope at the Jam Room in Columbia, SC.

It was announced over the weekend the band would be participating in DANZIG’s Blackest of the Black Tour, this fall, alongside POSSESSED, MARDUK and TOXIC HOLOCAUST.

Guitarist/vocalist Mike Thompson commented on the tour:

WITHERED is bringing our brand of extreme music and expression to a new audience this fall. The Blackest of the Black Tour is an opportunity that we just couldn’t pass up. It is also a blessing for us after learning the unfortunate news about Behemoth & Nergal. This turn of events will allow us to offer a glimpse of unique perspective to a fresh crowd as we kick off our third album release. Whether these fans are ready for us or not, we are definitely ready for them and expect to expand their horizons as well as our own on this new path.”

SPOCK’S BEARD: Rare One Off US Show Confirmed

Acclaimed progressive rock band SPOCK’S BEARD will play its one and only American show at the Downey Civic Theater in Downey, Calif., on Sunday, September 12. It’ll cost you $55 bucks to get in though.

Despite being a world-renowned recording act and touring act, SPOCK’S BEARD rarely plays in America due to prohibitive touring costs.  SPOCK’S BEARD is booked for a European tour during the last two weeks in September, which made this one-off show possible.

“Since we’ll all be in LA at the same time doing rehearsals for the Europe tour anyway, we thought we’d try to book one LA date right before we left,”

SPOCK’S BEARD will release its tenth album, X, on September 28 on Music Theories Recordings, a subsidiary of Mascot Records.
