After Postponement, Metallica Forced to Scrap Concert in India

Metallica just couldn’t catch a break this weekend in India. After “serious technical difficulties” led to the postponement of Friday’s (Oct. 28) planned performance at the F1 Rocks concert in Uttar Pradesh — and, in turn, a riot staged by angry fans — the band was forced to cancel Saturday’s makeup date.

The decision to scrap the show — which was to have been the metal foursome’s first in the country — came after promoter DNA Entertainment couldn’t come up with the necessary security permits. Four of the concert’s organizers have reportedly been arrested, among them DNA head Rajesh Chandwani.

On their website, Metallica apologized to fans, insisting that while they had been “very excited” for their Indian debut, they weren’t willing to jeopardize the safety of their fans.
