New Whitechapel Album Details, Due Out in 2010
Just home from touring with Trivium and Chimaira and closing out an extremely busy and successful year, Tennessee’s WHITECHAPEL are now set to head into the studio December 27th to January 31st with infamous metal producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder, Chimaira, DevilDriver).
WHITECHAPEL are set to record the follow up to the band’s crushing Metal Blade debut, This is Exile, at Jason‘s Orlando, FL based Audiohammer Studios. Be sure to stay tuned to WHITECHAPEL‘s and Metal Blade‘s sites as more information regarding guest vocalists, studio updates, and video updates will be posted throughout the band’s recording process.
Guitarist and founding member Alex Wade comments:
“We’re really excited to announce that we will be hitting the studio in January with a producer who needs no introduction, Jason Suecof. Suecof has produced some of the most brutal metal albums to date and we are excited for him to get his hands on our new material to make it the heaviest music we’ve created thus far.
Also, Dusty Peterson has been signed on to handle the artwork duties. His dark, yet meticulously detailed style of hand drawn artwork is sure to bring out a truly vivid and brutal masterpiece. We really wanted our artwork for the record to speak as loudly for us as the music we are creating, thus, Dusty was picked for his unbelievably realistic and detailed hand drawn style. In this day and age where downloading a CD is as easy as typing the cd’s name into a search bar, we wanted to make the artwork something creative and special for the fans who actually purchase the CD. Almost like owning a piece of art.
As for the title and track listing, you’ll just have to wait for that as the CD comes closer to completion.”
This is Exile was unleashed on July 8th, 2008, and debuted at #118 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, #2 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers, and #14 on Billboard’s Top Independent albums.

Okay seriously. i can understand people not liking their music (especially after seeing them live… they arnt too great). they are not the most technical band ever BUT they have amazing song writing potential. whitechapel is some of the heaviest music you will ever hear. and they arnt just heavy, they have alot of groove to them. its not just noise, you can actually bash your head through a wall to it. in a good way. i personally think that whitechapel is amazing, and im a guitar player. yes the guitar work isnt amazing, but the music as a whole is. in my opinion of course.
and another thing worth mentioning. do you know how much harder it is to get your timing down with 3 guitar players and not have it sound like a mess?

I listen to alot of different music from some rap to indie to metal to deathcore and all that shit, the only music i dont listen to is country and thats because i despise it so much…talk about being repeditive lol. I know that whitechapel and 90 percent of other metal bands are so repeditive its not even funny. I know theres bands that vary in sound on albums and have unique sounds but theres like 2 of them (btw can you please give me some band names of those you speak of). You dont get the variety in metal or any rock for that matter anymore like you did back in the day when you went to pick up Led Zeppelin 4 when it came out. I mean they used mandolins, flutes, and tons of other folk instruments. Now its all about breakdowns. I mean i like whitechapel but its obviously not the type of music one should listen too all the time, youll go insane. Let the name dropping commence (some bands listed probably don’t have varying sound amongst their own albums but do against other bands, so even if you don’t like some of this I honestly dare anyone to find another band that you can confuse with them): Enslaved, Sigh, Unexpect, Sonata Arctica, Septic Flesh, Amesoeurs, Krallice, Arkona, Eluveitie, Bal-Sagoth, Blind Guardian, Bolt Thrower, Borknagar (comparing Vintersorg or Cronian doesn’t count it all basically the same band), Devin Townsend Project, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Ulver, Tyr, Celtic Frost, To-Mera, Sunn O))) (only because of the Monoliths & Dimensions and Altar albums), Solefald, Shining, Seven That Spells, Rotting Christ, Orphaned Land, OOIOO, Nachtmystium (Assassins), Melechesh, Klabautamann, Karl Sanders, Ihsahn, Summoning, Grayceon, Gonin-Ish, Finntroll (some will argue that but I dare any to find a band that could get confused with them), Diabolical Masquerade, Samael, and many more but I’ll stop there.

I listen to Whitechapel all of the time and they are my favorite band, but I do not think that they are the best band out there, and I will not defend them based off of your thoughts… Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions. But to me they’re my favorite band because 1)They were the first heavy metal band that I have seen in concert, and 2)because they are very passionate about what they are doing, and they are very cool dudes too. Also, Septic-Flesh is amazing. I saw them at a concert with Behemoth. Good list of bands, by the way.
